Third Divison 22/23

Recommended Posts

Lanark 1 Lugar 0

Insipid performance by Lanark.  Only positives are, 3 points, a good goal from a rare moment of quality and a rare clean sheet achieved without our first choice keeper.

Lowest crowd I can ever recall at home. Easter and early Old Firm game certainly took its toll.

Larkhall Th 5 Gow 4

The Gow were far too passive in first half, went in 2-0 down. Larky scored early in 2nd half to make it three.

Then the Gow revival started, got  two quick goals. Larky then scored from a breakaway up the park 4-2

Maguire and Coffey came on like men possessed. Maguire scored, then Weir scored from a free kick, with keeper blundering 4-4.

At that point, only looked like one winner. Gow hit post and shot just over the bar.

Larky then scored with a few minutes to go, catching Gow on the break.

The Gow deserved more out of it, if they hadn't been so passive in first half. Larky are good middle to front, however their defence is an absolute car crash.

By that logic, yours must be a motorway pile-up. since you lost more goals. Cheap goals lost by Jags today, but we still had enough.

I know our defence hasn't been up to scratch for most of the season and that's why we might struggle to go up but it was a surprise how bad yours was considering your quite vocal about promotion.

You won't be going anywhere unless that defence sorts itself out

We lost ONE more goal, hardly a barrowload.

Today, yes, but you have conceded 20 more overall and scored fewer.

Great spirit from both teams, great advert for the game

Another Saturday, another day of hoping for a win whilst hoping our rivals drop points.

It is some run-in for us ( Larkie ), AWR, Lanark, VoC and Irvine Vics.

AWR have impressed recently. Looked to be 6th favourites in January (going by the game they had played over others) but left Gow in their wake and got a nice buffer to the rest who need to win games in hand.

Can't pick who out the 5 teams I think will make the 3 by the end... Lanark maybe looking the shakiest

It had better not be us against the bottom of the table coming off an 11-2 defeat or we can say bye bye to promotion!

Plenty of football to be played; we have Vof C and Vics still to come to Larkie, having defeated them both away we need to repeat the feat at home, both very good teams. Hugely tight, though I think Gow now out of the equation.

Royal Albert 0-4 Vale of Leven

Another excellent 3 points on the road and consecutive wins and clean sheet for the first time in over a year. Superb stuff.

Thanks to Peter and his team for the hospitality. Need more folks like him in the game.

LARKHALL THISTLE 2  LUGAR BOSWELL THISTLE  0

Stodgy first half. ' Larkie came out in determined fashion for the second half, but found it tough going until a great goal from Taylor Scott from a very difficult angle.

A host of chance were missed near the end following a Ryan Carlin headed goal, but another 3 points in our quest for the league.

None of the top teams can afford to drop anything.

Gow 3 East Kilbride Thistle 0

Routine win.  Could have been much more.

EK manager needs to stop getting his team to play out from back, as they clearly can't do it. Several opportunities were given to us, as a result.

Absolutely. We're not out of danger yet, but played really well three out of the past four weeks and We're out of the relegation zone for the first time since August. Onwards and upwards, Mon the Vale!

Saltcoats 1 Lanark 7

Went behind to a real route 1 opener from a bye kick! Saltcoats down to 10 men for last man challenge on 19 minutes. We were absolutely honking until the 50th minute although did manage to equalise before half time. Then it all clicked and we scored some excellent goals. Saltcoats young keeper had 4 excellent second half saves too.

Interesting incident when our striker through on goal and looking to round the keeper. Last ditch , last man challenge sees a foul given on edge of the box ( I actually thought he got the ball tbf). We are all expecting another red but ref produces a yellow. Bench remonstrates to which the ref responds - "he took a whoor o' a touch" as if to say he wasn't in a goalscoring position despite being dead centre of the D and going past the keeper. Hilarious.

Despite Saltcoats losing 18 goals in last 2 games thought their big CB a decent player

We have been very poor last 3 games yet have secured 9 points. Points on the board at this stage of the season is so important.

That comment by the ref…..brilliant.
If only more of them had the balls to communicate that way.

ROYAL ALBERT  V  LARKHALL THISTLE

Looking forward to our first midweek game which is a nostalgic event for supporters of a certain vintage, and a Jags win against the team who took the first penalty kick in world football.

We need the points to keep our league challenge up but Ive always had a soft spot for the Albert and the efforts of those who keep the club going with such a long history.
