The Queen of the South thread

The manager and squad fully deserved their applause today. Can't understand why they didn't just stay on the park at the end of the game while the crowd were in their seats and on the terracing. The delay meant that many had already gone from a match that had overrun by about 10minutes.

Anyway that terrific week beating Hibs, Rangers and Falkirk was bound to be followed by a bit of anti-climax. Imagine that several players will be rested by missing the Livi game ( maybe Carmichael, Reilly, Lyle?)

To be superior in head to heads against Hibs, Rangers and Falkirk says it all really. All bigger clubs but the first two vastly so . Even the harshest critics in amongst our own support and elsewhere would be struggling to disagree that the team have been anything other than magnificent . PS there might be a little to go yet as well. Bring it on !

Agree that was an absolutely outstanding season that the team, management and directors have delivered.

Only Hearts took more points off us in the 4 game individual head to heads. That is a truly fantastic statistic in the toughest ever Championship league.

Players have been superb from start to finish.

Congratulations and well done to the team, backroom staff and Manager, a great achievement to finish fourth in this very hard division, and all done without a recognised assistant Manager. Who'd have thunk it eh? Maybe not as crucial a position as some would have us believe. Hopefully we can carry our recent good form into the play-offs but even if we fall at the first hurdle it has still been a successful season.

It's a pity that a lot of supporters left before the "lap of honour" yesterday but I suppose with the play-offs still to come it didn't actually feel like the last end of season game. One (very) small complaint was the attitude of Chris Mitchell during this, he walked round the pitch with his hands stuck in his pockets, never once did I see him wave or acknowledge the supporters. Was he frustrated at an injury plagued season or just acting like a twat. If he didn't want to be there he should have stayed in the dressing room.

Understandable if we rest some players for the trip to Livingston but it would be nice to record a decent result against them on their own patch at least once this season.

Bring on the Play-offs. Hibs or rangers I don't care the important thing is we are there.

I think Burchill should be in with a shout too.

Livi have had a good month yes, but I would still stick by Fowler.

We picked up 13 points from a potential 15. Wins at Easter Road, a crucial victory at home to Falkirk and a 3-0 hammering of The Rangers being the highlights. 9 points from those 3 game was a real achievement and something even the biggest happy clappers within our support never expected.

Great season for all involved at Queens, best ever points total in probably the toughest second teir league ever.Fourth is a brilliant result and it's not finished yet!

Yep, previous best was 56 pts. Thats us on 60 with a game to go. Out of interest points achieved:

Hearts 0

Hibernian 7

Rangers 7

Falkirk 8

Raith Rovers 9

Dumbarton 10

Cowdenbeath 6

Livingston 5 (one game to go)

Alloa Athletic 8

Losing twice to Cowden was disappointing. So was not getting anything at all from Hearts. Wee bit unlucky on that front. But 14 out of the teams in 2nd and 3rd is excellent. Compare with last years total of 7 points from the top three in total all season!

The manager and players have done a great job. You do wonder if in another season we might have been challenging to win the league!

There is no reason to fear the playoffs though. Lets see how we do.

Hearts apart it's the bottom 3 clubs that have cost us a higher place in the league. These are the teams that tend to sit in as Dumbarton did yesterday and we seem to struggle to break them down. Generally when we have played against anyone in an open game we have more success especially at home.
