It seems to have been the energy crisis. There was a lot of posting about how much he'd saved since he retired by micromanaging the energy use in his house, like a stereotypical retiree suddenly at a loose end (pity Mrs Oaksoft). I guess it wasn't enough to do the job, as suddenly he was the champion of the poor, who needed urgent help to manage these crippling bills.

I'd have thought he'd be able to skoosh this after all his bragging back in the day. Bad run at the bookies, perhaps.

Sunak is on Channel 4 now having desperately phoned in to be interviewed by Andrew Neil. Firstly, is he aware that the majority of the Tory party membership believe that Channel 4 is a woke lefty disgrace of a channel and won't be watching anyway?

Secondly, has he ever actually seen an Andrew Neil interview before? Because his spleen is going to be removed from his body shortly and then the clip shared to show just how useless he is.

Certainly a whole lot better than Truss could ever have done.

Well funnily enough, or not in truth, the usual right-wing papers are this morning reporting that Truss intends to wrestle economic control away from the Treasury into No 10.  Her team of advisers would likely include Kwarteng, Simon Clarke, Rees Mogg and Redwood.  If that doesn't bring folk to their senses nothing will.
