I agree it's difficult, but he really didn't help himself.  Throughout the game he was hesitant and unsure which led to both sets of players questioning every descision, making him even worse. He just wasn't strong enough to control the game.

The red card really was harsh and under double jeopardy rules should never have been shown. Jacob slipped on his arse and tripped the guy. He hasn't  committed a professional foul or tried to deliberately impede the Preston player, he has literally lost his footing on a wet pitch.  Yes it's a 'foul' and a penalty but shouldn't have been a sending off.

The 3rd Preston goal was absolutely miles offside. Even a ref on his own should have seen that one.

The celebrations at the end were brilliant to see. Seems to be alot more togetherness round the squad/club than there has been for a few years.

Agree.

Ref definitely wasn't strong enough in handling the game. Card happy too.

Again never should've been sent off.

3rd goal miles off.

Even I was oot my seat (scenes)  at the equaliser as was thoroughly deserved.

Another good performance from the lads.

Was there an attempt to play the ball by the defender?

No, but it wasn't dangerous or intentional foul play either. He literally slipped and fell into the forward. Common sense would tell you, a penalty and a booking at most would have been enough.

If the ref did that they'd be making up the rules...

Denying a goal or an obvious goal-scoring opportunity (DOGSO)

Where a player commits an offence against an opponent within their own penalty area which denies an opponent an obvious goal-scoring opportunity and the referee awards a penalty kick, the offender is cautioned if the offence was an attempt to play the ball; in all other circumstances (e.g. holding, pulling, pushing, no possibility to play the ball etc.) the offending player must be sent off.

A decent ref should use common sense in those circumstances.

However, as evidenced by the terrible standard of referees prevalent at this level, they are trained to be absolute robots with no rapport or personality.

It's always interesting to see the footage of an incident after reading comments on here, because it seems like both yourself and the referee have got it wrong based on the live viewing. Not sure what common sense or a lack of rapport or personality have got to do with the ref's decisions here (think both teams would rather the referee just called it correctly and followed the LOTG).

The contact was outside the penalty area, when the defender stands on the attacker's ankle (there was no slip until after that), although he doesn't go down until the line which might be why the referee wrongly awards the penalty. The sanction for the foul is at least a yellow, possibly red for serious foul play.

It probably wasn't DOGSO either due to the attacker not having control of the ball and the goalkeeper was likely to get control of it first, so not obvious enough IMO.

As for "double jeopardy" if the referee thinks it's a penalty + DOGSO then the red card would be correct as the defender has no possibility of playing the ball.

Another big weekend in the race for promotion with 4 of the teams in the mix facing off on Saturday. Glenrothes looking favourites for the title for me.

Dunbar win on Saturday and I reckon they will kick on.

However, recent endeavours over into Fife / Perth have been less than impressive.
Hopefully a corner will be turned.

for me its Dunbar the favourite's as they have the points on the board

luncarty got some amount of games to play in 7 weeks  - seen they have 2 games in a cup winners cup ??????

Glenrothes got a lot of games to play also

think those 3 will get promoted though star and kinnoull to fall away

Good point on Dunbar having the points. Glens don’t appear to be slowing up at the moment and have momentum. Number of games will definitely become a factor. Availability of players starts to come into play with midweek fixtures.

Dunbar and Glenrothes are as good as up. One place remaining as I see it.

great away win for Camelon, can see them turning that into a few more wins and start to build themselves for next season

One game at a time at the moment the focus is on glenrothes on Saturday which will be a tough game as they are very good but we've given ourselves every chance now
