Some Dundee United fans complaining about their manager already and saying that they won’t finish third if they can’t beat Hearts and shouldn’t be losing to a team like Livingston. What an entitled attitude by some after one good season out of many. Almost as bad as some of our fans.

I thought it was just the twice - with one of them when half the men in the country were in a trench somewhere near Ypres...................and the other during the Skovdahl experiment when the worst that was happening was a three-way play-off due to league expansion.

They finished above us and still failed to beat us all last season, lost twice to us the season before too, got beat in the promotion play offs and finished below us in the Championship, finished below us two seasons ago in the Premiership when we had our 2nd top 6 finish. But yeah, them having a bigger budget has made a huge difference playing us.

If Budgets decided who Livi could beat we wouldn't even be in the top flight, fortunately it hasn't.

Livingston are overachieving by being in that position and United are underachieving by losing to you. That's a simple statement of fact, not an attack on anyone.

We've been "overachieving" for 5, going on 6 seasons though, comes a point when what a team has done on the pitch gets them enough credit, respect, that opposition fans don't think just because they have a bigger budget they "should" be beating you, certainly not ones outside the erse cheeks. That's just plain arrogance.

Agree - Livingston have done very well, and were probably the worst possible opponent for Yinitit coming off the high of Thursday.  

There is always an extra pressure on the bigger city clubs (c) Roy McGregor. As has been proved in recent times, just being in a high position in the league is often not enough to appease all of their support.

The organised, two banks of four brigade that have carte blanche to play counter-attacking football home and away can always benefit from that - as the quality between a £2.5k a week player and a £1k a week player is not as stark as it is between the guys earning £8-25K a week at the weegie duo and the rest. 

Still you need a good manager and the right players to make it work, and Livingston have excelled in that respect.

Livingston get loads of credit and respect. They’ve done amazing, as did Hamilton before them. 

You shouldn’t be offended that Dundee United aspire to be good enough to beat you at home.

No one would watch football if that happened every time. You're coming across as a right grump. So this weekend the winners of the matches in the Premiership will be Aberdeen, Hibs, Rangers, St Mirren, Celtic and Hearts.

I'm not offended in the least, as craigkillie says their budget spend entitles them as a club to aspire, even expect, to be better than the likes of Livi, on a lower budget, but we all know that's not always how it works, and for fans to expect it to is either arrogance, or naivety.

Also agree with what tarapoa said, the fair to middling clubs haven't got that massive a budget that a couple of grand a week player is that much better, or even as good as some of the lower budget team's players. For whatever reason a player has found themselves signing on at Livi for peanuts, we've signed some gems that are better than some higher paid players in this league. Nouble is the latest, some of Martindale's signings have been incredible for us.
