Rangers* versus Aberdeen, Ibrox, 3pm Saturday 29th October

Recommended Posts

Brutal - Goodwin falling into the age old 'diddy team' trap of thinking you can go toe-to-toe in an away game in Glasgow.

Taking the lead was great - but no in-game tactical adjustment, despite the fact we were being cut open easily.

Real worries about our manager after that..............maybe some experienced help, rather than 'just one of those afternoons' Sharp may be required. Sometimes $hitfesting things for a while is actually ok.

The team were absolutely lost in the second half, and that is not the first time that has happened this season.

Genuinely, that's how bad it was.

His inability to pronounce Vinny's name was absolutely infuriating. I know Rangers fans aren't tuning into Rangers TV to hear the Aberdeen's players names pronounced correctly but it's a tiny basic bit of research. He had stats handy for the Aberdeen players, surely not too much to ask to get their names right.

I’ve never bought this idea of having to go toe to toe. It doesn’t really make any sense. They will always have a better team individually than us so why would you?

There’s nothing wrong with being compact and solid for long periods of the game. The key is, and always has been, the quality and confidence you show when you have the ball. That’s what drives me mad and what we should be aiming for.

@Merkland Red alluded to it earlier but Stephen glass got that balance spot on last season against rangers in particular. The 2-2 at ibrox is basically the blueprint for how you want your team to play them.

Stephen Glass got us three points out of twenty one against Rangers and Celtic. 0 wins, 3 draws and 4 defeats.

Performances against them were probably better under him but results were worse than what we saw under McInnes who was criticised for his record in those games.

Disappointing result today but it’s the results against the rest of the league which will have the biggest bearing on how our season goes and we seem to be getting somewhere with that.

I recall McInnes at a Q&A night explaining why the team of his first season just couldn't just go toe-to-toe with either cheek in Glasgow, despite it being a common criticism from fans.  He gave fairly sound reasons which none of the dandies there that evening could really argue with.

There were still a lot of limp-looking defeats though, but they were seldom as demoralising as what we saw today.  The only positive today was it that we got away with a 3-goal scoreline, when it could have been so much worse.

The best thing about the Glass era was probably the balance he managed to strike when playing the Glasgow clubs - we never took a humping in any of those matches, and with VAR could have won 2 or 3 of them.

Much better all round performance today with Sands being the pick of the bunch in both midfield and defence.

It was a shame to see Ridvan go off after a really bright start as well.

4-1 in the end but it really could've been about 7 or 8 with the chances that we missed: Sakala's 1v1, the missed penalty, Arfield's shot cleared off the line and the Tillman sitter at the death plus a few more.

No, I'm sorry but McInnes record was horrendous and most of the games we lost were meekly surrendered.

Glass was an unfair decision away from a win at Ibrox and a McLennan toe away from a win at Pittodrie.

Far, far too much positivity around this match. Rangers fans saying that it's a great time to be playing them is a sure sign that everything is going to go tits up. Can Aberdeen staff not just keep quiet in the week leading up to a Rangers match? Andy Considine was the worst for telling the press what his team was going to do to Rangers in particular.

Hate to be right on this occasion.

It’s probably splitting hairs here but we’re absolutely scraping the barrel if Glass’s record against them is seen as something to aspire to.

That was basically shooty in at times, the first time in a while that the players have looked up for it. Played at a higher tempo and got the ball into attacking areas a lot quicker.

Still can't believe that we just stopped playing at the sheeps goal, could have seen us dropping points.

A couple of injuries that we could without though.

He played rangers twice and outplayed them twice and can count himself unlucky not to win either.

it’s not his record anyones aspiring to but the performance at ibrox is exactly how I want to see us play there every time. You’re always likely to have an overall losing ‘record’ against them.
