SPFL 2 playoffs - (Brechin,) Spartans and (another) Albion Rovers

Recommended Posts

Well done Spartans, enjoy life in the SPFL.

Gutted for Albion, always liked visits to Cliftonhill when they came along despite it's reputation for being, erm, rustic.

Hopefully they bounce back sharpish.

Hard luck to Albion Rovers on exiting the SPFL, bad times but things don’t stop on relegation from the leagues. Well done to The Spartans, think most had Brechin and Rovers as favourites so a great result for them.

Sakes. Just what Scottish fitba did not need.

Nonsense. We want automatic promotion to League 2 for the tier 5 play-off winners so any time a League 2 team goes down it's a good thing.

Maybe we do need a system where relegation from the SPFL doesn't mean a descent into an abyss....

It doesn't now. The gap in playing standards between the bottom end of League Two and the top end of the HL and LL is non-existent. That's why Club 42 is now regularly losing the playoff.

Automatic promotion from League 2?

That is already in place for the champions

There's not a huge gap between the bottom end of league 1 and the rest, considering Clyde lost to a team that only got 12 points more than Rovers.

Relegation is going to hurt for a while.

Be prepared for big changes over the summer and be ready to embrace the LL.

Ultimately, don't give up on your club!

Look forward to visiting Cliftonhill and welcoming yous back to CP next season!

Problem is, it's not one relegation but possibly two within a year if the Conference League happens.

As much as I know how painful the relegation out of the SPFL is, I've also been to a fair number of LL grounds, and they're good away days. It will be a refreshing change for Rovers, and I suspect they'll be playing the HL winners given the relative strength they have.

All champions should go up. All bottom teams should go down. From top to bottom of the pyramid.

Correct

It's time this utter farce of club 42 getting a play off for finishing rock bottom of the SPFL came ta an end !!!!

That's 5 League 2 clubs relegated, 4 to the LL and 1 to the HL.

You finish bottom your down........
