The difference between us and Accies so far seems to be that they consistently pick up extra points here and there in situations we haven’t. You could argue beating Thistle at home and their late equaliser at Raith are similar to our results against Raith and Accies themselves, but they’ve managed to draw at Cappielow while we lost and also narrowly beat Dunfermline while we could only get a point. It’s only a few points difference but that adds up over a full season.

Having watched Accies last night it has reinforced my opininion that, us, or anyone else for that matter who finish below them will be in serious trouble. Morton miles ahead of them.

Challenge Cup Trivia

We all know that Airdrie won the Challenge Cup last season by beating New Saints in the final. We also all know that New Saints recently played Fiorentina in the UEFA Conference League. However, without using Google or similar, what links Airdrieonians with Fiorentina?

They were also refounded after going out of business, also in 2002.

The Broomfield Bulletin had the pleasure of chatting with Marc Smyth this week. We spoke about a number of topics including the Challenge Cup win, winning at Tynecastle, Liam McStravick, his love for Airdrie, Sandy Stewart and Kenny Black, his advice for young footballers, an interfering chairman, Dick Campbell, his current job at Cliftonville and… Joe Cardle. Second season always so much tougher but just clocked the score line there and came on to have a wee browse of what’s going on at the minute. Injuries are so hard to cope with in the Championship and you add that in with having some younger inexperienced players then it’ll be tough. Long way to go though.

Hopefully you turn this around and go and beat EK, don’t want their heads getting any bigger than they already are.

Absolute garbage.   Injuries are not an excuse today given the level most of this team have played at before.    Wilson, Mochie, McGrattan, Armstrong, Aiken and a few others beside are just not good enough.  Pay them off now.

Worrying times, not going to get any easier with Graham and Bruce going off towards the end, McCabe going to get more time due to his previous seasons which people are going to have to accept. Really need the board to bail us out and try and get a couple of free agents in asap
