SFA South Region Challenge Cup 2023-2024

Recommended Posts

Pollok vs Linlithgow
Broxburn vs Talbot
St Cadocs vs the Soldiers of Love Mk II
Dunbar vs Cumbernauld Colt .45

the standouts for me. Kilwinning & Lanark bag themselves games against not so long ago SPFL opposition.

It's 7-3 on aggregate vs Broxburn if it's any comfort

For what little it's worth I thought Broxburn looked a half decent side (although our performance made it far easier for them than they would have been anticipating). It won't be a walkover for any WOS side they might end up facing in the LL playoff but they'll definitely be far more stiffly tested.

With a number of licenced teams in the mix for the South title, East v. West would only be a single tie. As seen with Darvel v. Tranent and plenty of cup games over the years, nothing's guaranteed in a one-off game.

In reality we knew we were never going to win this competition this season as we are involved in a major rebuild, but yesterday every flaw we had was highlighted by the way Broxburn cashed in on every mistake we made. Broxburn are a decent side and best of luck to them but I hope our backroom staff take heed of all our mistakes and the fact players have to play in the position they are meant to. The only good thing about the game was the fact Broxcburn should have scored more and they didn't.

A major rebuild means what exactly?

All goes to plan and you end up playing Broomhill on a Tuesday night in the Lowland League.

We lost 9 players , so we had to replace them. If that's not a squad rebuild then you must enlighten me.  As for the plan,  we are striving to build a squad that can challenge. As you can see by Saturday's result we are a long way to getting there.

Really so different from a Tuesday night against Gartcairn or St Cadoc's? There again it's nouveau riche like that and Johnstone Burgh that probably will complicate a rebuild. More money to be made closer to Glasgow these days. That's more like it Scotland!

Never really got the Gartcairn story.

According to what we're told on here it's went from some local boys club to a couple of promotions and play offs away from the big leagues. All local business folks ploughing into a team with next to no support playing out an adapted 4G at the local High School. Half the locals don't even know or have heard of Gartcairn.

And a mile away is Airdrie football club.

Why not help Airdrie?
