Effectively swapping Rice for £70 million plus McTominay would seem a pretty decent deal for West Ham tbf.

They're taking their time but if they agree the fees today of 50 for McTominay and Maguire, get Alvarez then assuming they got even 10 million for Scammaca then they've probably got enough left for a good striker. Would be a good exchange all in

I was at Molineux the other week and made some purchases in the club shop. They are my back-up plan this season if they overperform and things go wrong for Newcastle.

I be very surprised if wolves over perform, they're a relegation certainly at the moment. Gary O'Neill did wonders at Bournemouth but even he'd be hard pushed to get a tune out of that squad at the moment.

Changing manager 3 days before the season starts can't possibly end well imo.

Heard it discussed that with Luton and Sheffield United in the league, Wolves are going to gamble on cutting their cloth financially in the hope that they can still survive.

Something like 24 players have left for about £85m. It's a bit of a risk.

This, right here, is why the English football media is so lamentable.  James Ward-Prowse is a “modern great” apparently.   Modern great  obviously means something different these days.

southampton going to give Russell Martin a fair amount of cash to spunk if JWP and Lavia both end up leaving.

I take that to mean a Southampton modern great, which seems entirely sensible tbh.

Anyway, the 2 signings will likely be decent enough for West Ham. But using a huge chunk of the Rice money to sign a 28 and 30 year-old is questionable.

Disagree. They are getting two highly experienced players in the EPL and both are England internationals.

I don’t see a downside to this. On paper obviously as who knows how the next few seasons will go but they are at a good age.

Maguire's got the ability to bounce back, but there's a chance that these past couple of years have done permanent damage. He still plays well for England, though, and he can't get much slower so no need to worry about any pace going.
