Thistle v Inverness 23rd Dec. 2023

Recommended Posts

Not one to live long in the memory that, I thought at half time we'd go on and win as we'd recovered from what you might charitably call a slow start, but our tactic for the entire second half was to hit long diagonals out of play. Subs were all pish again, genuinely forgot Robinson was on and Adeloye doesn't look arsed.

Last half hour we couldn't get out of our own half and when ICT got a corner in the 93rd minute that was clearly a goal kick I thought that the sucker punch was coming but thankfully not.

All 5 games ending in draws so a waste of a weekend for all involved.

Good day to be full of the cold and save £22+ by the sound of it.

And I salute anyone who travelled down from Inverness for this🫡

I appreciate your salute!

We are currently awaiting the return train up the road from Queen St.

Not a classic, but a fair result all told.

Lawless was fair  terrorising us down the right that first half but thankfully he didn't get into it second half.

Merry Christmas all, safe travels home.

Desperate, getting an unproven manager just because he's a nutter in the hope he will scare yer players into playing.

This mob has had everything handed to them as they were desperate to have highland team in the Premier league years ago. Shows that even if you have everything handed to ye, ye can throw it all away.

Stupid post written by a total ignoramus.

Inverness teams had made many applications over the years to join the senior leagues and were knocked back time after time, all applications were well  before the successful 1994 one.

Our biggest objector was Willie Harkness chairman of the SFA and also Chairman of Queen of the South who always brought up his team's journey to compete in Inverness.

To finish it seems that Partick struggled at home today against the nutters team.

Thought we were lucky not to concede a plenaty late on when Banzo was tugging the jersey of the ICT boy.

Always incredibly pleasing to read when we need a win. Lovely stuff.

Awful playing conditions but felt Inverness able to play better football by keeping the ball on the ground and not speculatively punting aimless ,long and high balls  into a swirling mess as we did in second half.

We shaded first half after a god awful start ,however, apart form two cracking Fitzpatrick crosses across goal begging  for a tap in we were rank on second half and let Inverness boss us .In saying that I don't think Sneddon had a save to make.

File under "Thank feck thats over" and move on .

If they’d left Firhill with a 4-1 victory I don’t think we could have had many complaints.

Totally fell out the game second half. No off-ball runs, poor use of wings, fundamentally not at the races.

Would have liked to see Zander brought on to inject a bit of pace and urgency into the game.

Harry Milne had a poor game and yet probably single handedly salvaged us a point with his defensive efforts.

We need an imposing defensive midfielder, should probably give David Mitchell a run of games, and Muirhead needs competition for the experienced centre half spot.

No point having Neilson running out with the ball from the back if there’s no midfield out ball for him to pass to.

In the circumstances, a point salvaged, probably undeservedly.

McKenzie did come on with 15 minutes or so to go.

Once again we were dreadful after making subs, although at the time the subs made seemed fairly sensible. Robinson was anonymous when he came on. Fitzpatrick looked the only one capable of creating something in the second half. The ball he put in after turning ICTs leftside inside out was dying for someone to tap in but Adeloye didn’t fancy it diving for it.

Thought it could’ve quite easily been a penalty given away by Bannigan towards the end.

Lucky to get a point.

Strange post thought the game had a draw all over it.  Not sure where there 3 other goals come from. And im sure we had as many chances as they had.

Yeah, inclined to think a draw was fair in the end but we survived a few second half stramashes, was expecting one of them to sclaff in at some point. Neilson probably our MotM, some lovely touches. Wee bit surprised Diack isnt getting more of a look in given his promising debut (unless hes been injured, never really bother to look at the team sheets tbh 😅)

Similar to the Airdrie game with us not getting going 2nd half really, but less comfortable due to the aforesaid stramashes. Once Lawless/McMillan/McInroy run out of steam we cant seem to get anything going. Tbf its partly down to good work from Inverness too, working lots of neat triangles out wide and forcing us to expend a fair bit of energy, McInroy in particular looked knackered late on.

Nice footwork from Alston at the goal iirc.

Weather was fecking awful, and got worse second half.

So we decide that the 60-yard cross-field diagonal is the pass to go with. And doubled down on it when it didn't work.

Inverness played short low passes to players on the turn, and bossed the second half, without creating too many clear chances. Ironically, they developed 'thistlitis', trying to keep playing the extra pass in the box instead of just blootering it as conditions should dictate.

Not glad with the point, but at least we got something from the game.
