St Mirren V St Johnstone 24th February

Recommended Posts

As bad as last weekend was, I would be against Mandron being dropped. He's a handful and when he's on it he can be a real danger. I'd argue he links up better than the version of Ayunga we have since he has returned from injury. One bad game doesn't make a bad player.

He reminds me of later career John Sutton, extremely frustrating to watch, you think he doesn't score enough – then you see he's scored more than you thought. Then, just when you think you are giving up on him on a Saturday, he will lay on an assist or score a winner when he hasn't kicked his own backside for previous 90 minutes.

I wouldn't actually make any changes to the starting XI from last week. I'd be telling them to come out the traps like they did at Livi but just to make that early pressure count. We would have strolled that last week if we had scored the early goal, and in the end we as much frustrated ourselves as Livi did.

Bolton needs to come back in for Dunne. Not that Dunne did much wrong but with 3 months left on his deal, he should certainly not be dislodging Bolton from the first XI.

Cards on the table, forgot about Bolton's return from suspension. Agree with him replacing Dunne.

Game day. Get intae these c***s Saints

Would take St. Johnstone losing the rag like that today if offered. Pretty sure if Clark or May tried that on Gogic their knees would fold backwards.

Was either 9 or 8 you ended up with that day. Including Michael Moore getting sent off then doing a Saturday evening shift in the Buddies bar that night and getting some level of stick for it from the patrons.

Was it a different game?

Not the same game.

Stevie Mays knees are already folded backwards, that's why he's back at Saints.

This game hinges on Kirk's 'football philosophy'. Just play the players in their correct positions, let them try and go forward, play football and things will be okay. Or if the management team get involved, play c***s out of position, 6 defenders, with golden boys like back passing Max as our attacking force and punt hopeless balls down channels hoping the Swedish or Ghanian strikers can run on to them. As the bold Renton used to say "it's a fucking shite state of affairs".

Mitov

Keltjens - Gordon - Considine - Robinson

Jaiyesimi - Phillips - Sprangler - Carey

Clark - Sidibeh

Is what id like to see tried, especially since McGowan is out.

What we'll get is

Mitov

Olufunwa - K. Smith - Gordon - Robinson - Gallacher

Keltjens - M. Smith - Phillips - Carey

Kimpioka

Used to be my mate's postman when he lived in Kelburne Drive. He used to rip the piss out of Moore mercilessly.

Agree with you that Bolton should come back in.

Weirdly Fraser seems to make less mistakes on the left side compared to his favoured right side of defence.

Other than that, more of the same with several goals please.

If Mandron is dropped from the team, particularly for Ayunga which would be madness, we’ll lose. Or Olusanya for that matter. The only one of the front 3 who stands to drop out would be Scott most likely for Jamieson. Baccus and Bolton should probably be in line for getting back in the team.

Agree Mandron shouldn’t be dropped, but if Scott is going to be dropped, I’d sooner it was for Olusanya (and I appreciate that’s saying something) than Jamieson. For me Jamieson offers absolutely nothing. At least Olusanya has lightening pace and nuisance value. Ayunga is probably a better player than those two, but I don’t think him and Mandron work together.

Would take your preferred team although I’d put Matt Smith in for Jaiyesimi. No chance that’s what we’ll get though

Today may suit Olusanya as from what i've seen of St J, their defence isnt the quickest.

He certainly did well against them when he came on against them at our place last time. Particularly his run and assist for Mandron’s second goal.

Good omen for today’s game.

I’m sat having breakfast in the cafe at Hillhead Sports Club and Walk Like a Panther has just randomly come on their playlist. 👍

Nope. Not getting the reference??
