Freedom Farter
6 minutes ago, Granny Danger said: How is it that the slightest perceived word out of place about Jews/Israel and your persona non grata, yet other unhinged bigots are not only excused but endorsed? Bad faith. To me, it looks like there's folk who associate themselves with Labour despite not sharing much if any of the politics of the party. They're single issue, only there to advocate for Israel and the corollary of that, to stymie criticism of Israel. Some of them are very unscrupulous while doing so. They've long since been indulged on this by Labour. They've also at times been championed for it by opponents of Labour. Combined that's seen them grow increasingly brazen. Rewarding bad behaviour reinforces the bad behaviour and these folk have continued creating friction and division. Once the division is there, once a tear has been made in the fabric, sides get taken. Starmer has sided with the single issue Israel folk. That'll be partly because by far his largest individual donor is Gary Lubner, a single issue Israel guy, but also because of macroeconomic concerns. European governments collectively are turning towards militarism, mostly as a way to create new manufacturing jobs. Israel is a fairly important "partner" in that planned model due to how integrated it is with US military industrialism.

Freedom Farter
I love this. The Tories' attempt at taking advantage of this situation. They've come out with the most stupid attack line possible.

Miguel Sanchez
Are the tweets doing the "Congratulations MONKEY IN RED ROSETTE - selected as candidate for toilet town in England!" thing normal? It doesn't seem normal, or a thing I remember happening before. Like some sort of X Factor competition is picking who people will be able to vote to represent them.

CambieBud
Even the most ardent Starmer supporters, if that’s a thing, must see that right wing Tories being welcomed into the party, while left wing Labour members are being expelled or deselected is a worrying trend?

Of course it’s a broad church, but the church has undergone significant renovation in the last few years and the left side has been effectively closed but to compensate the capacity on right side has been significantly increased, so nothing’s changed. Not really.

BFTD
Labour can away and GTF, but I still can't bring myself to hope that they f**k up this election. The idea of another five years of the Tories makes me feel physically ill, and all Labour would learn from this defeat would be that they need to convince the public that they're more right-wing than the Conservatives. I'm by no means expecting them to be anything other than cosmetically better, but I can't abide the idea of voracious soul reapers like Braverman and Duncan Smith being further rewarded for the harm they've caused. Not sure what would need to happen for them to Kinnock this, though. Hidden camera footage of Starmer scheming to feed underprivileged children?

Dunning1874
Obviously it's not happening, Starmer could be filmed killing a Palestinian child with his bare hands rather than just continuing to actively support their mass murder and Labour would still win a comfortable majority at this election, but if you were picking a way for them to blow this then it wouldn't be the full Kinnock with the Tories still winning as that would also be nightmarish, it'd be contriving to fall short of a majority despite the state of the Tories. Two of the panel of three who made the decision to bar Shaheen from standing have been parachuted into safe seats in the last 24 hours. You have an NEC and NCC who are finding spurious grounds to block candidates they have factional disagreements with then are selecting themselves as replacements. It's a blatantly corrupt process in a blatantly corrupt party. If they're willing to publicly behave in this brazenly racist and corrupt way in opposition, think how corrupt and racist they'll be in government with real power.

Aye, the whole premise of Starmer's Labour is the execution of the public's preferred Tory policies competently and without the melodrama. There is very little to suggest they will act as a progressive government. Even now, facing a near wipeout of all parliamentary opposition there is no sign of any underlying stealth progressive policies. It may be time for folk to realise that Starmer really isnt going to turn into Nye Bevan.
