How are these preseason friendlies actually arranged? Do clubs advertise their availability on a private forum and other clubs get in touch, or is it arranged via the authorities etc?

Managers arrange most of them themselves tbh. They'll have an idea of what level of opposition they want to take on and at what stage of pre-season.

Watched Irvine Meadow draw 1-1 with an average looking Johnstone Burgh team yesterday, thought we looked the better side with Baird causing Mullen all sorts of issues. Should have won, but late goal wrongly disallowed imo.

Then took an absolute doing this morning from Glenvale, finishing 5-1, a few changes in the lineup, but, not a result I would expect for us.

Need to tidy up our sideline too, not a good look today.

I though "the Medda" did really well against the Burgh but were very much second best.  Early in the game "The Medda" worked very hard and were tidy and well organised at the back.  Scored against the run of play and made a fist of it but the Burgh dominated possession.  The full back got himself in a right old mess for the Burgh's equalizer.  The "Medda" keeper was by far the busier of the two and if the Burgh were only slightly more clinical with the final ball the game wouldn't have been in doubt.  Was a good effort though.

Glenvale were superb this morning and yes, they gave you a right old spanking.  Brian Connor and Sean Daly were a cut above anything else on the park!  The blonde boy at centre half getting himself sent off deserves a finger wagging.

The Burgh finished the tournament this afternoon with a comprehensive demolition of Maryhill 6 -1.  Whatever issues the Burgh had with getting the ball into the box against "the Medda" disappeared today, very clinical.  Aaron Mason impressed everyone who saw him today (and bagged a hat trick).

Brilliant weekend of football.  Best wishes to Irvine Meadow, Glenvale and Maryhill for making it a really enjoyable tournament and weekend.  It is good to be back!

Fair points, still think we looked more effective than burgh, very slow play with the ball.

No complaints with the result this morning.

Good luck for the rest of the season. I’ve a feeling we will both need it!!

First games for Burgh which immediately showed Mason will be a good asset to the team and starts every time.  Full new back line which will take time  to settle but makes us better. Tough season ahead but with a big squad the aim should be to stay up and continue to build.

Ur no spending all this money 2 stay up. There's an expectation at burgh now so I reckon its league title or murdies out the door

If Johnstone burgh don't win the league with all the money they've spent then there should be a big enquiry .

Why wasn't Lafferty involved at the weekend?

“We are going to enjoy the journey, for sure”.

“Like every club, like every manager, it will not be easy, but for sure we will enjoy the journey”.

I see someone's banal statement generator is working superbly.

You think it’s worth spunking 100’s of thousands of pounds on players when you can’t get promoted?

What the f**k are you on about now?
