Jeezo, if ever there was a thread set up for me on a Sunday with no fitba on and self excluded from OtB - *clears throat*, starting from 1988 to the present day:

Capri MkIII 1.6GL. GLX976T Midnight Blue

Honda Accord saloon AUR304S white

Hillman Imp P reg Tartan red

Singer Chamois E reg Bronze

Renault 5 Gordini Met blue

Vx Astra 1.3 Brown

Capri MkIII 2.0 Laser C212JSU Met blue

Golf GTi MkII orange

Capri 2.8 injection Special grey

Alfa 155 TSpark (1st company car) gold

Renault Laguna (2nd company car, poorer car, much better pay) white

Nissan Primera black

Volvo S60 Metallic black

BMW325i saloon Sienna Red

Saab 9-5 HOT Turbo (shite, sold it six weeks later) Metallic black

BMW325i Sport coupe silver

Audi A5 3.0tdi Garnet Red

Audi A6 Avant 2.0tdi (a premature attempt at being a grown up) Metallic grey

BMW 330d saloon silver

Range Rover 3.0tdv6 Metallic black

Range Rover 4.4tdv8 Metallic black

Range Rover Sport hybrid  (current), and with a leap of imaginative faith, Metallic black

And in amongst all that along the there have been various second ‘toy’ cars for use on high days and holidays that have included 2no. Classics Range Rovers, a Mercedes 320 estate (all for going camping with the boy when he was a kid), 2 more 2.8 Capris and, currently sat in the garage, a 2004 BMW325i convertible (in metallic black 😂

If my midlife crisis gets any worse, might treat myself to a red one. Red is the fastest.

From my earlier post I went green. Silver, baby diahorrea, black, red, black and red.

Can confirm red is fastest.

Renault 5

Astra 1.2

Cavalier 1.4

Fiat Bravo 1.2

Toyota Corolla

Renault Mégane Estate

Mazda 6

Mazda 3

Hyundai i40

Mercedes E

Unsurprisingly the Merc is a step ahead of the rest although the i40 was decent and had brilliant spec. The Mégane was a fucking nightmare. How Renault can sell fully electric cars when the electrics on their normal cars are so dreadful is a mystery. Latterly Mrs has also run a 2004 Yaris which had nothing going for it really other than it was just a great wee car that never, ever caused a problem followed by a Mini Cooper D which has been a good wee car too.

My old man used to buy wrecks and try and do them up (without great success). His history went something like: Daf 33, Daf 66, Fiat 1100, Daf 33, Skoda Estelle (engine in the back, brick red colour), Skoda Estelle, Renault 4, Nissan Micra box shaped, Hyundai Pony, Nissan Micra, Skoda Fabia, Renault Clio, Daimler Herse...

I bought the then girlfriend's Vauxhall Cavalier before I learned to drive and it sat in the garage before being scrapped. So the first car I had was a C reg Renault 5, then another Renault 5, a Peugeot 106 with a NI numberplate, Skoda Fabia, Nissan Micra (stolen when it had no petrol in it), Nissan Micra, Nissan Micra, Citreon C3 and the current bammobile is a Dacia Sandero which has lasted 5 years.

Only ever had really fast and sporty cars...

Peugeot 405 (saloon) - grey

Peugeot 406 (saloon) - red

Peugeot 406 (saloon) - silver

Ford Focus (hatchback) - blue

Vauxhall Insignia (hatchback) - silver/blue (current)

The first 406 was written off by a drunken old dear who fell asleep at the wheel just outside Freuchie. The others were sold for cash including the second 406 that I'm led to believe became a taxi in North Africa somewhere.

All purchased for cash as not a fan of leasing/PCP.

Last Century: too many to list, some decent, some clunkers, but my favourite was my first, a basic 1989 Astra 1.3 (silver; many, many speeding tickets.) Worst was a Renault Laguna (also Silver, woeful electrics.)

This Century I have been mostly driving Jaguars: S-Type 3.0 (Ultraviolet), S-Type R 4.2 (British Racing Green), F-Pace (Caesium Blue), and currently an XJR (Yulong White), and my wife's iPace (Firenze Red.) All-time favourite, by an absolute  mile, is the XJR, an absolute fucking beast of a car.

Never thought I'd say this, but I must confess to a sneaking liking for the wife's iPace, whose acceleration isn't far off the XJR. Feels more "car-like" than a Tesla too.

He meant it looked like a frog. There was actually a worse post in response with pretty much outright racism which has gone now.

Peugeot 107 - got it after my gran died and everyone agreed it was the best idea to give it to me. Cracking wee car and I got nearly 3 years out of it before it needed a big repair and I traded it in.

Fiat Punto - My first ‘big’ purchase I ever made, kept it for 3.5 years. Had alloy wheels and a leather steering wheel. I felt the bollocks driving it, even if it did have 77 horsepower

Seat Ibiza - My current motor, bought this after graduating as a treat to myself, had it nearly 5 years and love it to pieces. Fast enough to overtake easily going up the A9/A82 and pretty good on fuel too. Average about 50mpg usually.

Rough plan is to keep the Seat and think about a new car in 2 years for my 30th. Barring any disasters between now and then
