Zanetti
LeBron James still an absolute joy to watch breeze up the court like that. Serbia shat themselves here though.

Sherrif John Bunnell
I feel like the USA track and field team are about 5 years away from a teary interview with Oprah, claiming an evil doctor handed them brown paper bags and ran away. Big Marion Jones vibes from this lot.

peasy23
KJT leading by 48 points over Thiam after day 1. Her PB long jump is further than the Belgian's but Thiam has the better jump this season. Thiam will have a better javelin, so it's all down to whether KJT can limit her losses to something that gives her a chance to make up the deficit in the 800m. She did throw a PB in the shot put, could do with another in the javelin.
Bully Wee Villa
I like KJT, seems quite down to Earth. Hoping she wins.

JS_FFC
Team GB sent three athletes to the skateboarding: Sky Brown, Lola Tambling and Andy MacDonald. Β Brown and Tambling are both 16. MacDonald is 51 making him literally old enough to be their grandfather. Β This video game featuring MacDonald was released nearly a decade before Brown and Tambling were born. Women go today just about 5 with the men at a similar time tomorrow.Β 120 laps with a sprint every 10, but 12 countries in teams of 2 effectively cycling a relay, to switch riders you have to grab your team mate by the hand and slingshot them into the race. Usually chaos.

I think as long as KJT is within 50-100pts of Thiam going into the 800m then she's got a great chance.
peasy23
We've been here before, but KJT makes an arse of her first long jump. Edited August 9 by peasy23
peasy23
6.04 m with her second jump, another stuttering run up but only 1 cm behind Thiam at the moment.
peasy23
Manages a 6.40 with her final jump, badly needed.
peasy23
Decent outcome in the end for KJT as she only loses 1cm to Thiam so maintains a 45 point lead.

Looking at their PBs, Thiam is 256 pointsΒ better than her in javelin while KJT is only 91 better in the 800 metres. She's probably going to need to achieve a lifetime best in javelin and hope Thiam underperforms to have a realistic chance. Needed a good 200m and long jump and only managed "okay" in each. Β Yep, there is 13 meters between their PBs in the javelin, but only 7.5ish m on their season's best. Thiam set her PB in 2017, so it would be a huge shock if she gets near that.
