Bands that were everywhere and then disappeared

Lost Prophets. Not heard anything from them for years, unsure if they split up?

Think the singer was upset with how things ended. Although they'd been together a number of years, he felt his best work was just into his infancy.

I don't think anyone else agreed.

In my youth it was The Kooks, The Pigeon Detectives, The Wombats, The Enemy.

They are/ were all shite.

They were especially shite.

Had they seriously never heard London Calling before releasing this abomination?

There was a whole T in the park line up one year with all that shite on it. Dreadful.

Still finding an audience, disappointingly

Still finding an audience because 15 year olds in Stone Island on away trips still exist:

The Enemy's whole second album is hysterically derivative. They were rushed into it by their record label to capitalise on their early success.

The Corrs saturated the airwaves with boring music for a few years, then vanished.

Jim Corr is now a monster raving looney conspiracy theorist.

The La's. One brilliant album in 1990 and apparently Lee Mavers has been working on the difficult second album ever since.

There she goes, running through my veins - Heroin explains it.

My nomination would be Be-Bop Deluxe who were contenders between roughly 76 & 78 but ultimately lost out when Punk and then New Wave came along.

The Darkness. Phoned in sick to T in the Park and never heard from them again.

Justin Hawkins: "It's a shame that Jon Bon Jovi doesn't like our music. I wonder what the rest of the cast for Ally McBeal think."
