Rock Bottom Pars v Not Much Better Rovers Friday 13th clash

Recommended Posts

Friday 13th omenous?

Rovers are completely toothless, and as seen on Saturday canny hold on to a lead.  Hopefully we get some of the injury list resolved by then.

Pars coming off a 2-0 Fife derby win at Bayview against a no bad East Fife side.

This could be fun.

Whoever loses wins bottom of the league.

No better time to play Raith. We need to take all three points here if we have any prospects of not finishing dead last.

The better time was over the last couple of weeks when they had Potter managing them.

While the sacking of Murray might work out in the longer term view of the season, I'm pretty jealus of any team in the Championship who got to play a Potter managed team over the past few weeks.

The squad and team that Raith can put out is still the one that pretty much everyone had down as a top two team this season, if they're managed competently they'll be one of the best sides in the league, would I choose to play them while the players will also have a new manager bounce freshening things up? I'd rather not.

Who'd have thought we'd be facing a relegation 6 pointer 5 games into the season?

If the Pars can't beat us this time they never will.

Right enough, if we don't beat Raith on Friday we never will again.

This has all the hallmarks of being a terrible game of football.

Its like trying to compare shite, the winner being the one that smells just that little bit less awful, but is still shite. We still have too many players out injured with no return being spoken about, as well as limited scope to allow the new manager to bring in his own people.

If Dunfermline win, does that mean McPake is safe for another week or so?

No, he'll instantly be sacked for winning.

It is a bit of an unknown occurance, maybe he will be for raising expectations higher than they should be. Apparently you should be happy with a youth academy and thats about it.

Great opportunity for the Pars to check mark the most dismal starts to a season on record for us and send us bottom.

As stated by others, great time to play us. 2 CB’s out - Fordyce & Murray. No captain in Scott Brown, no Jack Hamilton. Then you’ve got Stanton, Freeman and Vaughan who’ve not been fit plus others bang out of form.

Most weeks we don’t score, we capitulate regularly these days too.

What we will do is play some terrific stuff for a spell, so our hope in this fixture is dependent upon bagging at least 2 goals during that period.

Lose this and you’ve surely got to sack McPake and go get Ian Murray?

No Raith / Pars manager should survive 6 derby defeats on the spin. Especially adding in your dismal form last season and this.

Our own manager and more so board will come under higher levels of pressure if we go bottom. Even with all our problems we have enough talent to be nowhere near bottom.

Two big hot steaming piles of shit facing off this Friday, underneath the lights, cannot wait!

In all honesty Raith's team hasn't changed much for the worse since last season. Some good experience brought into the defence and players in those midfield and forward positions that have been a thorn in our side time and time again. Been a tricky start in Kirkcaldy, not helped by manager issues but still a squad there who finished second in the division last season.

Our last league game against Ayr was an improvement on our previous three league games this season. Still win-less in the league so massive pressure on the manager, no better time to end that run with a win in a local derby. Especially after our performances in the fixture last season.

I think this'll be a fairly tense game without much good football being played. Rovers to take a 1 nil lead into the break, Pars to equalise in the second half. Game to finish 1-1.

What's the deal with Fordyce, Murray, Brown and Hamilton? Are they all definitely out or touch and go?

Despite some improvement in recent weeks, I've still not seen anything to suggest we're about to win games, never mind big derbies. Scoring goals remains an issue (despite what two against East Fife might suggest), and keeping clean sheets is equally challenging (again, despite keeping East Fife out). Are we about to score goals, keep Rovers at bay and do it all on national TV - there's very little evidence to suggest so. I'm liking what I've seen from Sam Young and Tommy Fogarty and they've quite right established themselves as the preferred centre-halves (a damning indictment on Bene and Fisher), but Friday night will be altogether different test. At the other end, our strikers are up against well-proven ex-Hibees so I'm struggling to see us unlock Rovers (although Hanlon especially looked pretty suspect for at least one of the Ayr United goals at weekend).

There's a lot of stars that need to align on Friday for us to have a chance, so my bar is set particularly low. Rovers lose this though and Barrowman should be chased out of Kirkcaldy - the Murray sacking was and continues to be absolutely moronic, and despite many Rovers continuing to pretend to support that decision, deep down surely nobody will still think it was a good decision. Luckily for Rovers, I think they'll win on Friday and probably quite comfortably too. :(

Fordyce - came off worse in a 50/50 challenge in the season opener vs Airdrie. Looked a bad one and no known date of return.

Murray - pulled up against Livi, not sure on return date.

Brown - was back training but suffered another setback. Not featured in any league game this season.

Hamilton - Murray chucked him on against Airdrie and broke down within 30 seconds. Not back in training AFAIK.

Not having all the doom and gloom from Rovers fans. By all accounts they were very good v Livingston and by far the better team but just couldn't put one if their chances away. We've never been the better team all season. They then raced into a 2 goal lead v Ayr - we don't look like scoring 2 in a game unless it's against League Two opposition and even then we failed to do that v Forfar. They will start favourites and rightly so, and the new manager will have been able to see the best and worst of the team at Ayr so should be able to work on things in the week. Having said that, if he's totally fraudulent and continues playing Ross Matthews at centre back that would be lovely. 2-1 Raith.

Consistency has been a real issue for the Rovers this season, as in we have been consistently shite so far.

However If the team can play like they did for the first half against Ayr we should win this one. No holding out too much hope though.

0-0

A lot of their key players are either not fit or injured. There doesn't seem to be a new manager "bounce" and he seems like a bit of a clown this guy they've appointed (we know that feeling well) If we lose here, McPake can honestly get f*cked.

They've lost a challenge Cup game while the new guy has been in charge for a few days, that seems awfully early to suggest they won't have a bounce or that the new guys a clown.

I can see this being a turgid affair with the Pars taking a win at home.

Our players aren't that bad if we can get them properly organised and motivated.

If we do win it, no doubt it could be a catalyst for a huge change in fortune for the team and manager.
