Petty Things That Get On Your Nerves...

Recommended Posts

Good views about local commercial radio stations.

Northsound 1 here is horrendous and makes me want to pull off my ears whenever I have the misfortune to hear it.

The same six crap pop songs on rotation every hour, annoying presenters with rubbish "bantz".

I generally listen to Absolute Radio 90's..........

The only thing this reveals is that you've probably struggled to move on from enjoying the music of your youth (your prime?). I heard some study recently about why people like certain musics and you'd fall into the category of having a narrow taste band, thinking the music of a certain period of your life was a high water mark. Either that or like me, you struggle to work out how to change stations on these fiddly DAB things.

I actually have a very wide taste in music.  I just happen to think that everything after 1999 is shit.

I sometimes work with someone who can't abide listening to anything other than Smashing Pumpkins, Pearl Jam etc. Try and introduce her to anything made after this and she glazes over.

Hate that irritating c**t. Apparently you can set up a meeting with the very man. So you have the chance to commit murder if you so wish.

I wonder if anyone has ever heard that advert and though "that's the very guy to sell my house for me" Surely someone he knows has had word in his ear to say no one is ever going to use you estate agent after hearing this shite. The same can be said for the Tony Macaroni one that had the stupid song, I have never eaten there due to that ad campaign alone.

Anyone who either chooses or is forced to listen to Clyde 1 on a regular basis can only be infuriated at themselves for committing such crap life decisions. It is literally a radio station for scheme goblins.

My listening choices are fairly limited as I've no DAB in the van, it's FM/am radio or a cassette.

That's a valid excuse. I used to end up listening to Fred Macaulay on the radio in the car in pre-DAB times and just hating the world because of it. Commercial radio has advert space to sell but the BBC should be brave enough to admit when they have run out of ideas and just close for a few hours, rather than filling the void with talent vacuums like that p***k. I think they've found a female equivalent/replacement now.

I spend most the day flicking between stations till I land on a half decent song.

Last couple of Ford Transits I hired had a thumping stereo and flawless/easy to use Bluetooth. Get some advice from Grimbo and get a charity page going to get you a van with some decent ICE.

On DAB, I thought it was national thing, but in my car I have a certain number of channels, but recently when I was in the #Perthshire area there were many more available to me. I know local radio accounts for some of this but there was a far better choice of national options too. Anyone know the gen on this???
