Always thought a chipper was a 70's bike, a smaller version of the iconic Chopper.

I never owned either but I was one of five that got a 'perfectly balanced lift' one day after school down the road on a Raleigh Chopper.

In Inverness its 'chippee' because its 'the sneckee' and that how we roll up here with any word that ends in y.

Did The Monkees originally come from Inverness then?

P.S. Whilst on the subject, chippy chips are almost always horrendous.

THis is a recent thing I think, they used to be great. Too dry and crispy now. Probably because they use oil and I think it used to be lard or whatever. Trying to make things healthier is shite.

Never said it was any good (apart from the curry calzone).

I never said you did, you claimed it was a chip shop which I took umbrage at.

Here is a snippet of their menu :

The shiteness of chippies in FK2 compared to DD10
What? Do you not rate the conveyor belt that is Benny T's?

Was a touch upset when the owner sold Colorado in Laurieston as always had a good meal from there. Then I found he had moved, new shop is the Colorado Thistle on Thistle Street just off Etna Road, as we are moving into the new Persimmon Estate just off Etna Road I'm quite happy with this situation.....

Remember getting a decent supper from Land and Sea in Polmont a few years ago too.

Further south there is a belting chippy in Eyemouth but I can't remember the name.
