peasy23
England going along very nicely. Sibley uncharacteristically looking like a test match batsman. Good toss to win by the looks of it.TMS had the stat earlier that this is only the second time Sibley has lasted more than 100 balls in the first innings. At the risk of jinxing him, he has been solid this morning.

Savage Henry
Joe Root looks like he might be on a Steve Smith run of form here.
jaggyness
Ever the optimist. England going along well, new ball imminent, drastic collapse to follow [emoji23]

Passed 500 Test runs in the year already, pitch looks pretty tame so the draw looking the favourite already.
Jimi Shandrix
India really missing Jadeja. Nadeem just doesn't look in the same ballpark. I can hear Geoffrey. "Buffet bowling, elp yerself"
die hard doonhamer
100 up for Root. He's in absolutely stunning form.

I don’t know. India can be extremely flakey. And we all know about England’s batting.... although they don’t often reach 250/2.

I just don't see anything in this pitch, if this pair see off the new ball then England will chew up most of tomorrow, will all depend on Indias reply I suppose.
die hard doonhamer
Sibley goes in the last over for 87, England 263-3 at the close. Root 128 not out. A good day of cricket.

peasy23
Root continuing to do his thing, with Stokes on the attack at the other end, not a good combination for India
peasy23
Stokes goes for 82 from 118 balls, England 387-4. Tried to pull Nadeem over deep square but didn't quite get all of it, Pujara juggled it a bit but managed to hang on.
peasy23
400 up for England, and Root over 600 for the year so far in only the 3rd test match out of a possible 17 this calendar year.
peasy23
Root passes 184 to set a new record high score for a player playing in his 100th test match.India have burned all 3 reviews. Root and Pope are their own biggest threat at the moment with a couple of ropey quick singles.

If he keeps this up he is going to break every record going, no idea what Chris Silverwood has said or done but, whatever it is, it is clearly working.
stanton
Another good session from England, maybe about another 100 + runs then stick India in for a few overs before the close of play , maybe nick a couple of wickets
