Savage Henry
Australia could be a bowler down here. They deserve to lose this game just for that XI.
Fuctifano
This is the one time this series England's approach is going to work and they're going to get royally shafted by the weather, looks like they might have to all but win it by close of play tomorrow if they want to get the Ashes back. Scotland under a rain delay at the moment, Germany are miles behind on DLS after 5.3 overs, which is enough to constitute a game.
FuzzyBear
Scotland got 233/5 and lost 8 balls !!. If it hadn't rained game might not have finished as 3rd umpire apparently only had 2 left .

Like it's being filmed on someone's phone, with the commentators inside a telephone box.

They’d have been better getting the European Cricket Network to do the coverage.

It’s almost as if the camera operators don’t really have the ability to follow the ball, because they don’t usually film cricket. The last wicket is basically a series of cuts spliced together.
die hard doonhamer
On the test, I would not be shocked to see Stokes declare 10 minutes before play in the morning given the forecast for the weekend. It would be a bold move, but it would be a better reasoned declaration than the first test, imo.
Savage Henry
Just to add, what a mess they’ve made of Old Trafford.

Old Trafford a mess, the big pavilion at Headingly is a mess, the same at Edgebaston. Lord's isn't too bad, and the Rose Bowl is fine but dull. The proposed developments at Old Trafford and the Oval aren't great looking either.

Edgbaston was a breeze. I found Edgbaston had far better facilities.
die hard doonhamer
I know I’m in a minority, but I quite like the big red blocks at Old Trafford. The stands either side of the media centre are excellent, and the temporary stand is a modern wonder of the world, imo.
peasy23
Comfortable win for Scotland in the end, but almost came a cropper due to the weather. Donathan
England’s two choices seem to be either an early declaration today (possibly before play starts or very soon after) and try to bowl Australia out quickly and set a low chase target for themselves, or go full hell for leather and try to add another 150 runs on in attempt to set up a potential innings victory. Either way they need to bowl Australia out cheaply at some point and get the runs on, just depends whether they get the runs first or bowl first.

I'd personally go hell for leather and try to get that 250+ lead - the pair that are in are well set - not as if they have to bed themselves in. jaggyness
I'm not sure this bat once tactic England are allegedly planning is a good idea. Australia can just bat for time and take the game away that way.
UsedToGoToCentralPark
Hindsight might prove to be a wonderful thing but given the way these 2 have came out this morning I'd keep batting for the time being and pile on the runs.

Australia are going to bat for time and do rain dances in the dressing room no matter what.
Savage Henry
I’m not particularly impressed by Pat Cummins’s captaincy here, albeit England are batting very well.
