die hard doonhamer
Today I sat and watched the greatest batsman of the modern era score a double ton, live in front of my eyes. The ashes are gone, and I'm not sure I'm even mad about it.
Sir Tarmo Kink
Rashid Khan’s Test captaincy debut is going well, he scored 51 as Afghanistan made 342, and has now taken 3 wickets in his first 5 overs including that of Shakib, to reduce Bangladesh to 88/5.

Certainly both teams currently playing in the Ashes. I don’t think there’s a single cricket fan who doesn’t root for Afghanistan.
Savage Henry
Raining in Manchester... England could easily get a draw here and then somehow sneak the Ashes by winning the 5th test, despite being massively outplayed in at least three tests.

(I know it’s only Ireland and Bangladesh but still, impressive). What was notable to me was that Rashid Khan, the national hero in a very T20 driven country, and the number one T20 bowler in the world, was talking about how Test Cricket is “real cricket” and how he wants Afghanistan to excel in the format. Good to hear.
Mark Connolly
The masterclass with Ponting and Warne on slip and close-in catching was superb. Enjoying this one with Johnson too.

Yeah, they seem to be the definition of dicks on the field, decent guys off it. Except Warner.

Savage Henry
England are pretty much batting this game into a draw. Fair play to them, I guess.

Fair play to them, I guess.Burns has certainly grown into his role, still looks uncomfortable at times with the short ball, but he looked more settled facing Lyon than Root did.
peasy23
Root edges one right through the gap between Paine and Warner that they leave for each other. Root down getting treatment just now after getting whacked on the knee, Australia reviewed it but the impact was outside off stump. This looks like a really sore one.

That was another dreadful review by Australia. They’ve been awful with DRS.
Sir Tarmo Kink
Hazlewood is on fire, what a ball to dismiss Roy. Roy looking better than usual but nothing special. It’s a shame Denly (who just started to look good, scoring a 50) was fed to the lions to accomodate Roy’s attempt to get into double figures.
DeeTillEhDeh
Roy is just a walking wicket - should have been dropped for this test.
peasy23
That was another dreadful review by Australia. They’ve been awful with DRS. Tbf I should have said well outside off stump, as it was missing the stumps too. Think they said Australia have been successful with barely more than a quarter of their reviews in the series so far. (7 of 25?) Joel Wilson has a better record.Strange ending tonight as the umpires appeared to tell Paine if he stuck with spin they could play on, then just as Labuschagne was getting ready to bowl they bring the light meter out and take the players off. Think Australia would have loved to get 6 overs in tonight and start afresh with the new ball tomorrow morning.
Sir Tarmo Kink
Malinga takes 5 for 6 as Sri Lanka bowl NZ out for 88 and win by 37 runs. Malinga took out the top 5 of the NZ order, including Ross Taylor, de Grandhomme and Hamish Rutherford for a hatrick of golden ducks, and Colin Munro the ball before that to make 4 wickets in 4 balls.
