Lichtie78
Just seen that Pucovski’s concussion was caused by a volleyball. Surely no way he can continue to play, hopefully Victoria/Cricket Aus can support him with a role outside playing like England did with James Taylor.
Benjamin_Nevis
An outstandingly stupid decision. Just play the best bowlers ffs. In a similarly stupid move, Joe Root has been told he’ll bat at 3 in the series. Just had one of the best years anyone has ever had at his preferred position of 4, so obviously England want to f**k with that as well. At least Jos Buttler has been dropped, and they didn’t bring Sibley back. Broad, unsurprisingly, is publicly fucking seething. Yet another PR triumph for the ECB then. Christ.
Eednud
South Africa all out for 95 on Day 1 of First Test v NZ in Christchurch. Matt Henry takes 7 for 23.
Eednud
Not even lunch and the Saffers now 91/7. Plus the 7th wicket was the 200th test wicket in NZ for Tim Southee. Only 1 behind Richard Hadlee. Edited February 18, 2022 by Eednud
peasy23
Ireland cruising to a win over Germany in their final round robin match in the T20 World Cup Qualifying tourney. They lost to the UAE in their opening match then beat Bahrain on Saturday. A win today gets them into the semis.
die hard doonhamer
Scotland’s T20 champions, Carlton, are playing in the European Cricket League T10 competition in Malaga, starting today. Their first game is at 2 o’clock today, and can be watched on freesports (sky 420), or on YouTube at https://youtube.com/c/ECNEuropeanCricketNetwork The standard is mixed, to say the least, and I’d expect Carlton to get through the group this week and in to the playoffs, which happen in a few weeks time.

I know Andy Goram used to be a quiz answer about cricketers and footballers (although did he ever play for Scotland at cricket?) but Southwell must be in a select few for that pairing.

Goram played 2 first class games for Scotland, both against Ireland, one in ‘89 and the other in ‘91. He also played a List A match v Yorkshire in ‘89, and one v Sussex in ‘91.

Didn't Rangers ban him from playing cricket in case he broke a finger or something?
die hard doonhamer
5 wins from 5 for Carlton in the group stage. Next up is a round robin against the other top 3 sides, with the top 2 getting a double chance to make the final. It’s Carlton v Cluj first up tomorrow at 8am, and then they will play Olten at 12. The finals day is then on Friday, with the schedule for that set after the results are known tomorrow. die hard doonhamer
Another 2 wins today, so Carlton will play in the first qualifier at 8 tomorrow morning. Win that, and they’re in the final. Lose, and they get a second chance to make the final against the winners of the first eliminator, which is the second game on tomorrow. Carlton have been a class above the other sides here, tbh. I’d expect them to come through tomorrow, then the finals week next month will be much more interesting.
