Might be due to them having 3 games that Wednesday and not wanting 2 on TV simultaneously, though Australia-Fiji could've been Tuesday or one game could've been another midweek. Japan play the Saturday before, us the Sunday after, i.e. Japan-Scotland has to be Wednesday. There are only 4 weekends for the groups but 5 matchdays (each team sitting-out one). Thus 2 games in each group need to go midweek. There have been complaints at past tournaments over how the IRB arranges these... the schedule isn't randomly drawn as in football... especially for third seeds, and despite promises to improve things there remain anomalies. They seem to have adjusted Group A so that England and Wales both play the 4 weekends - as a result Fiji have to play both midweeks. Presumably it's for UK TV... To boot, one of the Fijian's two 'weekend' games is actually on a Thursday. Coincidentally the Fijians were one of the ones complaining last time. They don't have a single Saturday or Sunday this time and they've got 4 day intervals on 2 occasions. The complaints form the last tournaments was from the tier 2 sides(non Six Nations/Rugby Championship but have played at the RWC sides) about having less time to recover between matches compared to the tier 1 sides. 0 Quote Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

You could argue he was pointing out who was on the receiving end, but he made it vague to say the least. He had stopped penalising Connacht for anything by that point, even Beattie was pointing out the players being wiped out outside the breakdowns. The scrum was fair enough, we got a doing there, but he seemed incapable of applying decisions consistently at the breakdown. That was absolutely bewildering tbh, no wonder the TMO was confused, the instructions he was given were extremely vague apart from the timing of the incident. Thought Blair, Ashe and Harley were excellent, the early part of the season is going to be very tough for Glasgow with more than a full starting 15 on world cup duty. Neither team plays the previous weekend and the Monday and Tuesday before are completely free. Would've made more sense, and dawn a bigger gate, had they played it on Monday or Tuesday at 8pm. Can only assume it's being played at half two to appeal to the Japanese TV audience? Hadn't noticed Japan were playing this weekend which rules out Tuesday as a viable date, and Scotland are playing next weekend which rules out Thursday. So, basically, there had to be three games on Wednesday and ours gets the short straw, as far as kick-off times go. Are Scotland likely to play a second-string team, or play a full team then rest players against the USA? We should still be able to get bonus point wins against Japan and America even if we do rotate a few, shouldn't we? Broncos took the Roosters apart on Friday night and the Cowboys outsmarted the Storm in Melbourne on Saturday night. Hoping the Cowboys win as it would be their first GF victory and also great for Jonathan Thurston to almost end his career. Whatever it should be a cracking game.
