Was actually thinking that, as shite as Miotti's pass was, giving us a bit more room to attack wasn't necessarily a bad thing

Ha, same here, Glasgow are far more dangerous from 25 meters than they are from 3.

That was a really good match and harks back to some of the Glasgow of old with dynamic running. I thought Tuipulotu was great all game too. That grubber kick through at the end was perfectly judged.

I'm not saying Glasgow are back, they are however far better drilled under Smith than the rabble we saw at the tail end of last season. Glasgow badly need someone who is decent with the boot however for place kicking.

Great performance and result from Glasgow. We managed to match them physically up front, and the backs looked dangerous. Thought Jones was excellent, will be giving GT headaches if he keeps it up. Discipline was good (maybe co-commentator is a good move for Wilson) given how poor Brace is, and to see us win scrum penalaites in the last 5 minutes is a good sign, all the while still being willing to run the ball from our own 22 when there was only a couple of points in the game.

I'll admit I was a bit meh on Smith as head coach, but he seems to be doing well. Seems to have kept the good things we were doing (ie the attack) and has worked to improve the area's we were not as good (ie physicallity / defence / etc)

I'm not sure he wasn't just guessing a few of those scrum penalties. I didn't understand a couple of them. I don't know if the ARs were calling it, but quite a few offsides missed- even one in the run up to Kyle Steyn's score which ironically helped a little.

Reports coming out of France that Toony will join Fabien Galthie's coaching team as France's attack coach after the world cup...

Going from head coach of a tier one nation to a specialist coach seems a bit of a downwards step? Unless he's thinking do 2 years there then get a Top14 job or something but even then.

Great win at home to the Stormers yesterday. Hopefully we can kick on in the last 2 games in the European pool stage. First up is Perpignan though Franco Smith may end up resting players like in Bath maybe as it's an away game in the Challenge Cup.

Our next league game is at the Dragons at the end of the month. Our main players will be in Scotland camp whereas they'll just have Ross Moriarty and Rio Dyer in the Welsh camp I'd wager.

Good point. However he played in France and speaks French so maybe the cash is good. He's had good times as Scotland head coach but at the same time we haven't kicked on in the way I'd have hoped.

Maybe getting the attack coach job on the last Lions tour sparked interest in France maybe...

Caught up on the game yesterday and think it's got to be the best I've seen Glasgow play since the run in of the 2018/19 season. Outstanding to a man and playing some scintillating rugby just now. I'm reluctant to say they're back just yet, but the signs are very promising.

Rugby's disciplinary process continues to be a laughing stock. Owen Farrell, found guilty of a dangerous tackle, and not for the first time, gets his ban reduced if he attends "tackle school". A player who has been playing at elite level since he was a teenager and worked with some of the game's best coaches, but has somehow forgot how to tackle along the way.

Seems very strange that a 31 year old international captain with a decade plus of professional rugby can get a reduced punishment by attending "tackle school" but the rules are the rules. No idea what to expect from England this year other than Borthwick doing what almost every new England coach does, stripping away whatever fancy ideas the last coach had and immediately turning the barbarism of the play up to 11.

Getting my 6N pessimism in early this year, think we'll really struggle. Seems strange that with all the chopping and changing we've done the injury problems leave us with a bunch of guys with a handful of caps.

If the first choice back three is really going to be out for the beginning with Rowe, Forbes and McLean injured/not playing much you're probably looking at 3 from Smith, Kinghorn, Steyn and Maitland, presuming he's still interested. Not quite as bad as I'd have thought but not great.

Ditto if Watson and Darge are both out then fagerson, Dempsey, Ritchie isn't too bad at all with Bayliss, Bradbury, Christie and Crosbie supporting, but again a shortage of guys with meaningful international game time.

We're goosed at TH, second row don't know if we're sure what we want them to provide but Richie will hopefully carry on his little Indian summer.

Exciting news is that the midfield should hopefully be better this year. Bennett, Harris, Redpath, Jones and Sione if they're all available gives us the sort of options in there we haven't had in a while, although lack of specialist 12s. 9 we're in a very good place and hopefully, whatever the long term plans are, back 3 injuries mean Kinghorn shunted there and Finn getting a clear run, with Healy given time to bed in from the bench.
