What Are You Drinking ?

From Orbost, East Gippsland in Victoria. Sailors Grave Brewing Squid vs Whale Round V, American IPA. Nothing fishy about this other than it’s smooth taste could easily lead you out of your depth and in a blubbering mess as it reels in at 7%. Need find some of their others to try.

Now drinking a Belgian beer that appears to be labelled for the Swedish market. Extra Smooth Pale Ale from Omnipollo at 5.5%. According to the can it’s brewed at De Proefbrouwerij, Lochristi which looks to be half way between Ghent and Lokeren. Pic from the Omnipollo web site.

Zinger Slinger New Zealand Lager although it’s not from New Zealand. It’s brewed by Blackman’s Brewery from Torquay in Victoria using various New Zealand hops. It could have been brewed in Geelong as they have a brewerymthere. It’s exceptionally good and at 5.8% it’s the same strength as Stella used to be when Stella used to taste no bad.

After a New Zealand Lager that wasn’t from NZ now it’s a French IPA but it is French. Made from French grown houblon (hops) and orge (barley). Bit lively when poured but it’s très bien. From Brasserie La Débauche in Angoulême. Translation is debauchery which is a good name for a brewery. Had a look at their website and they have some interesting cans.

This could be any one of a multitude of IPAs but it’s labelled as Moonray Cold XPA from Tallboy & Moose in Preston, a Melbourne suburb. It’s nothing special but still better than most mainstream Australian beers.

Another cracker from Overtone.

Theres about a millions hops that are similar enough to not really require naming, but Azacca is an absolute stand out for me.

Generic, simple German Lager for me. Not that I mean wither of those things in a negative way. Almost a Helles style probably. No hiding place for dodgy flavours.

Ye cannae best the classics, found it difficult to find bottles recently, got them in Falkirk Morrison’s. Favourite pint of Pilsner Urquell ever was in a bar called U Sadu in Zizkov. Tankovna and basically a local bar, but what a pint.
