They attributed the report to an NGO inside Gaza, which had actually put that in the public domain. Anyone who says the British state broadcaster is neutral gives away their own position. Freedom Farter
Israel's aim with their current military offensive is to cripple Gazan society by destroying its infrastructure. I don't mean this is merely the outcome of Israel's actions, I mean its the express intention, its the literal military doctrine that Israel go by (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dahiya_doctrine). That's why they bomb healthcare facilities and why a disproportionate volume of Gazan doctors are being murdered, because those doctors are working in the hospitals which get bombed. Its not just doctors being disproportionately killed, its various types of civic leader because they staff the infrastructure that gets bombed. If a society is gutted of its best and brightest, that stymies knowledge transfer within that society. Something particularly important to Gaza as nearly half the population are children. The above Twitter account is a Bosniak and she mentions in her follow up tweet how this "eliticide" was done to her ethnicity in 1990s Bosnia.

Other than that, great post. It's a conspiracy theory perpetuated by US supporters of the Israeli occupation. They allege that all the crimes Israel commits against Palestinians in the occupied territories are staged. They talk about crisis actors and the like. Here's an example of a current Pallywood conspiracy theory, claiming that dead Gazan babies are actually Chinese dolls: I suppose the term Pallywood being picked up and used by idiots here (well, at least by one idiot) shows again how easily US nonsense transfers to UK. welshbairn
The old story about Iraqi soldiers throwing babies out of incubators and shipping the equipment back to Baghdad, provided by the daughter of the Kuwaiti Ambassador as was later revealed, seems to have finally become partially true, but by Israelis. They probably didn't nick the incubators. A Gaza hospital evacuated, four fragile lives and a grim discovery

jagfox
An interesting thread on a regional ally of Palestine which could give leverage to some kind of 'resolution'. Edited December 3, 2023 by jagfox

vikingTON
Quote The US ambassador to the UN, Robert A. Wood, has said his country does not support an immediate ceasefire in Gaza, arguing that it “would only plant the seeds for the next war”. Wood, speaking at the UN headquarters in New York, said the security council’s failure to condemn the Hamas 7 October attacks on Israel was a serious moral failure. Hamas continues to pose a threat to Israel, he said, adding that an “undeniable part of that reality” that if Israel unilaterally laid down its weapons today, Hamas would continue to hold hostages. He said: For that reason, while the US strongly supports a durable peace in which both Israel and Palestine can live in peace and security, we do not support calls for an immediate ceasefire. This would only plant the seeds for the next war, because Hamas has no desire to see a durable peace, to see a two-state solution. As opposed to the Israeli government of Benjamin Netanyahu, that the US has shielded from literally scores of UN Security Council resolutions, who is of course entirely committed to a two-state solution and durable peace. The same US government that blacklisted Cuba for actually helping to end the conflict in Colombia, while batting for yet another of its client states regardless of innocent victims.
SlipperyP
I see the UK abstained in the UN vote. Shitbags, knowing the US would vote against. They obviously sat in the corner saying nothing. They're forced to live under apartheid conditions with a side order (although currently its the main course) of ethnic cleansing.

Point is that even 40 years ago there were arguments about whether to condemn Israel or abstain in UN votes, as part of the balancing exercise between supporting the US and getting cheap oil. Right now the US is wavering over Ukraine so the UK not letting the Septics be a lone voice may be valuable in that war. So much is intertwined these days I reckon politics is now an impossible game. At least for democracies. Dictatorships play by different rules. Putin is not answerable to anyone, he counts a win if he survives, even if 150m Russians die.
NathanDrake88
came across this podcast, which is pretty outstanding tbh. Can be a hard listen and you need to pay attention, but gives an unbiased history of the Israelis and Palestinians
