Count Binface (standing in the London Mayoral election) was interviewed on Radio 4 news this evening. He sounded a bit like Bluebottle from the Goon Show I'd vote for him...

That's the Boys' Brigade in HJ's pictures above I believe. They had a meeting hall near by (might still be there, not sure). One of the Edinburgh City team who beat Hibs in the Scottish Cup in the 1930s had a BB connection, as did the illustrator Tom Curr who did cartoons of football games in the evening paper: -
I believe we've paid off the debts. Just because you beat us 13-2 in 1937 doesn't mean you can ask for us to be thrown out the League. Now there are other failed franchises beginning with L clubs that you could have a pop at.

I was with a bird at a showing of "The Dish" (decent movie) at the Dominion. Some b*****d horribly let off in front of us and we were silently blaming each other for it.

I had a dream last night that I was cycling back to Edinburgh from a meeting in Glasgow. The chain came off my bike in some Lanarkshire backroad but I decided that I could just go down hills and try and push the bike along on flat bits. I crossed a busy road (M74 stand in) and ended up in Falkirk late at night. Passed through a shopping centre and got trapped in a store that was being cleaned by a lot of people. I managed to get out of that and kept going. I came to a warren of backstreets and went through an exhibition in an old tenement dedicated to Hugh McDiarmid. Through some more back streets and I said "This is Armadale" and then the outskirts of Edinburgh. I eventually ended up taking a kip in a garden near my house in the sunshine as it was morning by this time. My brain is very good at making very realistic imaginary cityscapes when dreaming. It's not so good at geography (Falkirk to Armadale going east and it's near Edinburgh?!).

Not particularly random matches you're going to... My pal is a Broxburn fan and had a passing interest in the result of Jeanfield Swifts v Musselburgh last night as anything less than a win for Mussey confirmed Broxburn as East of Scotland League champions. It was a good match with Musselburgh coming back from 2-0 down and nearing snatching things only for a late Swifts goal to seal the win and make Broxburn fans mildly contented... On a dampish night the bloody midges were out too... Broxburn committee members: "Swifts have scored a third. Pop down the Co-Op for some silver polish the morn will you?"

The Meadowbank board at the time were Blobby Hunter & pals who were doing their best to kill the club. I find it ironic they were prepared to vote against the proposals- probably thought it would cost them money. -
You can go further and point out it is technically the Monarch that chooses the Prime Minister. And I don't remember voting for a monarch
