  1. Take that north stand capacity with a pinch of salt though.

I'm not sure how many Aberdeen actually sold there, because we had 43,000 overall but take away say 7,000 in main stand and just under 13,000 in jock stein, that leaves 23,000 sold in North stand (and remember there was no segregation) not 27,000. That figure included corporates aswell.

Desperate to watch a game that the whole of Scottish football didn't want? How strange.

  2. I don't have a problem with it.

It would be great if everyone was let in free, but I don't think £35 is excessive for a ticket, regardless of whether an adult, child or plant pot sits in the seat.

In context with other sporting events it's not bad, for example the absolute cheapest concession price for the FA Cup final is £35, and majority of tickets are much more expensive than that.....

You might have a problem with it if you were going and also taking your wife and 2 or 3 kids.

Yesterday's Welsh Cup Final prices were Adult £8, Senior Citizens £5, Under 16's £1. See, I can do ridiculous comparisons too.

  3. I can't really guarantee it anymore. I vividly recall quite enjoying it when I listened the first few times. However, after hundreds of listens, I can no longer say for sure.

There are no 'laddy' football chants, there isn't a huge use of instrumentation (vocals, guitar, a tiny bit of bass and an even tinier bit of violin). No drums. It's more similar to a ballad in terms of tempo. No players, past or present, are mentioned in the song.

I know what you mean about losing the impact of something through repetition. Stick with your first impressions though.

That's good about the players names. I'm sure it'll be fine as you're obviously a genuine musician which kind of helps in these situations! Best of luck with it.

  4. Brilliant. Big queues...panic buying = 50 people at the club shop!

I think we can safely use a P&B favourite to sum up the whole Dundee situation at the moment...scrambling for relevance. Obviously the Courier didn't want them to feel left out.

    Oops, of course...thanks Kyle!

  5. I hadn't realised that St Johnstone had, in fact, had a minute's applause in their next match. The Marly pointed this out to me. I'm really disappointed that United haven't done anything - I think that's pretty poor.

I think though that it's going to both clubs as its a request to put something in the matchday programme, so might need the backing of both clubs?

From memory of semi final programmes, I think they include, or have included, sections on players/connections between both clubs so a bit about Redford would obviously fit in there. Not sure if a special tribute is appropriate at this stage now though.

Mind you, it's an SFA publication so with Redford being an ex-Rangers player they'll probably have an 8 page feature about his Ibrox cup winning days.

  6. Have to agree that the final's not the place as 2 leagues have already taken place between the clubs since his unfortunate demise.

We managed to do something appropriate for an ex-player that spent some time with us in the twilight of his career. Any petitioning should really be aimed at United who apparently have done nothing for a player that is rightly fondly remembered as one of their European heroes. I'm quite shocked they've done nothing actually.
