  1. A twoer really is cause for a semi - congrats! ****************** A much more conventional three for me... Wordle 259 3/6
  2. Sad day for the Baggy Greens and indeed anyone who likes cricket.
  3. I know in the great scheme of things it's not a biggie, but FFS.... ....I suppose a life on the gravy train awaits.
  4. Well yeah I mean if Handsome Jim had been able to handpick a run of fixtures to start the year with then I guess he couldn't have done much better than a coupla cup games against lower league opposition and in the league a series of games against teams with their own issues - he likely would have hit the wall against Hearts & Celtic too. Next two games I'm hoping we'll seal our top flight status and still have enough in the tank to deal with Hearts in the cup.
  5. I'd disagree, Aberdeen aren't a "sack happy" club they've had fewer managers than us since the millenium (excluding interim appointments) 7 to our 12 - I'll wager he'll be at Aberdeen longer than Robinson is with us!
  6. This is between me & you. Irrelevant to my point that the issue had missed by many non-footballing folk (which is clearly the case) and that it was a foolish move by Clyde to re-sign Goodwillie as the calendar can't be turned back to January.
  7. In the real world not everyone is interested enough in football to put two and two together.
  8. Perhaps, but not everyone is interested in football and maybe Goodwillie's conviction (and the abhorrant details) had flown under their radar, like I said above there's no going back to January, and I am not surprised at the council's decision.
  9. Maybe not repulsed (your term) but the stink will be bigger now and this is the important part, it's spread beyond the football community there's no going back to January, sponsorship is about generating goodwill (sic) and if it starts to have the opposite effect then sponsors may change their views.
  10. Amazed Clyde want Goodwillie back, I know there was a bad smell in 2017 when he first signed for them but things have changed (#metoo) in the intervening 5 years and this time there'll be non-footballing folk aware too, it'll be far worse this time around - wonder how Clyde's sponsors will fell about his return. Double amazed Goodwillie wants to return to Clyde (or any Scottish club) now, I'd have thought he'd be better seeing out his RR contract in his garden or maybe moving abroad in the summer. Almost inevitably Saturday's Clyde game is against Falkirk and another of Scottish footballs bad boys.
  11. Yup, is there more than 1 Wordle doing the rounds, I'm unsure today's (my version) should be eligible as I reckon it should be capitalized.... Wordle 255 4/6
  12. Anyone else wanna do a review of the Handsome Jim era? 2019/20 Not appointed until the end of June, amidst typically self-induced Saints chaos, he seemed disinclined to go with Gus MacPherson's picks so recruitment went on pause till JGs targets started to arrive in late July by which time the League Cup had come and gone, a league season spent mostly in 10th spot and a reasonable cup run beating Well before going out to, erm, Aberdeen. Went into what turned out to be the last game of the domestic season against Hearts where a defeat would have left us bottom but Karma & Handsome Jon's goal left us 9th - all in all a decent first season. 2020/21 Two S/Fs and 7th in the league was probably overall our best season this millenium but I can't help looking back with disappointment, leaving Livi in their comfort zone for too long before we started to seriously chase for an equalizer in the LC S/F, too many games that February probably cost us the Top6 slot which wasn't Jim's fault and you can't say anything else other than the Fakes were better on the day in other S/F - sadly close but no cigar. 2021/22 An uncharacteristicly efficient 4/4 wins in our LC section led to a last 16 tie against Livi which was, erm, characteristicly close but unsuccesful as we went out on pens. Our not quite firing league form before the break led to some grumbling about Jim's tactics although I don't recall anyone calling for him to be sacked. A good January window and some sparkling form in both the league and cup once we resumed playing led to Aberdeen luring him up north quicksharp ************** He certainly left us in a far better position than when he arrived and for me keeping us up in his first season will be his biggest legacy, when Jim left he was the longest serving manager at a top flight club and if rumours are to be believed we came out of the process with a hefty sum of cash, so he will certainly go into my list of successful Saints managers altho' not in the Top5.
  13. All I can say is Thank You St. Mirren for getting this sorted before I go back to work tomorrow!
  14. Good to see an old fashioned P&B thread dripping with animosity - too many nicey, nicey threads these days!
  15. Gobsmacked that we can afford to buy out a 2&abit years contract of an EFL1 manager but with the combined compo for JG/LS & looking at Morecombe's current position in L1 it's maybe a good deal all round - lucky I didn't make a tit of myself by saying there was no chance of it happening!
  16. Read The Sun story, all it says is SR is the "bookies favourite". Would be happy with SR, but will still be gobsmaked if it happens...
  17. The Canadian Jazz pianist - not the worst suggestion in the thread!
  18. While I think we need to appoint a new manager sooner rather than later, I don't think it's necessary to do so within the next week. I'm sure the BoD will have had it under consideration for since they said compo would have to be sorted out before Aberdeen could talk to JG (last Tuesday IIRC). OMG - just seen the McBookies list above turely horrible!
  19. Photoshopped by the same person who did the Andy/Virginia one....
