  1. We'll be missing around £250k if we do.... He's surplus to requirements at Aberdeen now and he's not worth splashing any cash on.
  2. Off the top of my head Gus MacPherson was promoted from within and he did pretty well for us, we could trade individual examples or accept there are no guarantees when selecting a new manager - I'd still prefer said No2. My real irk is the line you didn't quote I'm speculating but say, for example, Ryan Flynn has done his coaching badges, I'd rather take the "punt on an unknown quantity" on him with, of course, an experienced No2.
  3. Coupla ex-OF players each currently in a cal-de-sac in their careers willing to grace us with their presence - yippee! Naismith would be my preference solely because we'd likely have to give Aberdeen a hefty chunk of the compo money back to get Brown. Crazy idea - both of them will (presumably) be looking for experienced No.2s, why not just hire said No2?
  4. All Aberdeen salaries will be greater than ours - can't see Sammy leaving them for us.
  5. Mibbes aye, but we are 12 points above them for a reason, quite clearly however all their ex-Saints will score giving them a 4-0 (?) victory.
  6. Feeling relaxed about this game, we showed good spirit on Saturday to come back from a goal down and hold out for a draw after Dunne was sent off plus we've got an extra day to recover compared to Dundee who must have used up a lot of energy at Parkhead today.
  7. It's a meaningless phrase which means different actions and ideas to different people.
  8. Paper talk, Brown & Naismith have dropped hints to their "mates" in our OF-friendly press that they might fancy the job and those "mates" are busily scribbling about how it'd be in our best interests to pick one - oh how lucky we are!
  9. I know Ross would leave us to chase a fiver but I reckon he's got nowhere to go right now, not Aberdeen or Hibs and there was a bit of a stink at Hearts, whereas down south he'll only be known for his spell at Sunderland. He'd have to do well with us to get a move so I say split what's left on his contact with Hibs (3/4 months) and get him in. Naismith (and the inevitable experienced No. 2 he'd need) I could live with even though he was part of that disastrous 17 seconds back in March 2010, Brown is Aberdeen's problem, nothing personal but let him stew I says!
  10. That's why I was happy with yesterday's result at Livi, coming back from a goal down and hanging on for a point after Dunne was sent off - I'm a lot less worried about post-JG run of poor form now.
  11. As I said previously presumably if we go for Naismith we go for an experienced No. 2 to help him out - in those circumstances what's the point of Naismith?
  12. Let's face it only a madman would want to be a football manager, with it's inherant insecurity, the best you can hope for is a good looking one like Jim!
  13. Maybe the compo to Hibs is a bit too steep for us and the BoD want to run the clock down, be a bit cheeky and announce we'll stick with Clangers till this end of this season with Ross for next season - or maybe that's a ridiculous fantasy1
  14. Clangers as iterim yeah, even to the end of the season, but the new guy should be identified and announced by the split.
  15. Not for those of us with weak Heartz. Maybe I've got my Elvis head on but I still see 11th as a possibility especially now Handsome Jim has gone.
  16. Another fawlty camera... Jean-Luc Brunel: Jeffrey Epstein associate is found dead in French prison | World News | Sky News ...should Ghislaine be worried?
  17. His baggage obviously counts against him as he didn't get much of a look-in for the Aberdeen job despite as you say having a better record than JG if you count his time as "assistant manager" at Livi. I see Livi as having the least financial resources in the top flight and this must be the first time since we were both promoted that we are above them in the table, I'd see us as a better long term option (through my B&W tinted glasses) but he might not see it that way.
  18. Yeah but his conviction was 15 years ago, since then he's got a degree , done his time, and worked his way up the football ladder and has Livi safe from relegation again despite them prob'ly having the lowest budget in the division, the bantz at work, Paisley twinned with Medellin - would luv it! Would he see it as a step up?
