The Partick Thistle thread

1-0 flatters us, United should be out of sight here. A collective of shite performances so far from some of our usually reliable players. Some of it was United being excellent in their pressing, but even when we had decent space in attacking areas, our use of the ball was dreadful. The set pieces in particular were abysmal.

That’s in addition to the many, many millions he’s already been paid so far. A truly disastrous trade & contract.

That’s almost always how it goes if any HC is fired mid-season in the NFL. The seasons are so short that you might as well just wait until it’s over to go through the whole hiring process.

f**k Andy Reid, Patrick Mahomes, Travis Kelce and Taylor Swift. Merry Christmas.

Thistle v Inverness 23rd Dec. 2023
Nightmare replied to 9queens's topic in Scottish Championship General Chatter
That was a stonewall penalty at the end, no idea what Bannigan was thinking. We were very fortunate there. Other than that, I thought it was a pretty even game as well. We shaded the first half, Caley the second, but overall a generally forgettable game. -

Your Club's Manager, as a Player

Yes, at their peaks. I’ll take the guy who scored double figures worth of goals 8 seasons in a row (5 of them while Thistle were in the top flight). -

Ooft, imagine thinking that Dougie Imrie had a better career as a player than Kris Doolan. -
This looks like it could be very useful, cheers. One small problem with the train I’ve booked from Frankfurt to Munich, is that I think the ticket says the seat reservations are in carriage 24 - but the train diagram on that Czech website shows the carriage numbers as going 26, 25, 23, 22. Which seems a bit weird. Ever seen that before on there or any idea what’s going on?

Going back to this, Spanos would have to change the habit of a lifetime if the Chargers are going to hire any of those 3 names as Head Coach. He’s a notoriously cheap owner, which is why you always end up with the ‘exciting young coordinator’ type hires. Not to say that the whole Staley debacle won’t change his mind and make him realise that he should probably put some real cash into his next hire, but it just seems like the prospect of LAC paying $10m+ a year to anyone, even a top name like Harbaugh or Belichick, is very unlikely. My guess would be a Ben Johnson type hire to pair with Herbert, or if he’s totally burned out on the young coordinator thing, then a more affordable retread like Dan Quinn.

I think it's quite telling that even after breaking the franchise record for most points in a game, most Raiders fans aren't too fussed about last night. That was an all-time 'quit on your coach' game from the Chargers. It's always fun beating a division rival, and especially by that kind of margin, but not ideal for us being in a position to draft our QBOTF next year. That Jack Jones pick six, though. Very cool.

Not surprised that you’ve managed to completely mis-read the situation in this thread. Very on brand.

The rest of the league finding out that the Chiefs have indeed replaced the Patriots as the villains of the NFL - which the rest of us in the AFCW have known for years already. Imagine being so entitled and arrogant that you think the rules shouldn't apply to you. A hideous fanbase and team. Get it right up them.

Old firm defeat excuse tombola

My favourite is when they make excuses about budgets after getting pumped in Europe, without a single hint of irony.- 67 replies

State of Guardiola there. Odious little man.

A deserved win for Rovers at the end of the day given our calamitous first half where they should have been out of sight. I can imagine it was a great match for the neutral, but it definitely wasn’t from a Jags point of view as our midfield and defence were AWOL at so many different points in the match. I’m torn on wanting to see Raith continue this great run of form and go on to win the league. On the one hand they’re really fun to watch and it would be nice to see someone different win the title, but if they do so then that’ll mean there’s a good chance we’re stuck with Dundee United next season who will just continue to spunk millions up the wall until they do finally win promotion again.
