  1. Right surname but it was Willie. 2 down, 3 to go.
  2. No takers for what, I appreciate is one for the older fans. I will give some clues. One has a surname very similar to that of a Junior club in the west. Two have surnames that were found on last season's team sheet (one of those is still with us).
  3. A tester for today. As mentioned above, Grangemouth featured 5 ex BU players in their ranks that day. Can you name them?
  4. Back to 1965 now and a local match with a difference. Grangemouth United had no ground of their own, so switched their home fixture to Newtown Park. They will have had second thoughts after being trounced 7-3. The opposition that day contained five former BU players! The BU team was: Preston, Trialist, Young, Bellamy, Chambers, Sneddon, Bone, Buchan, Meikle, Craig, McManus. Undoubted man of the match was Bobby Buchan, who netted his first hat-trick for the club, before later heading an own goal! The others came from Frankie Craig, Archie Meikle, Joe Young & Allan McManus. Archie's goal was disputed, until it was discovered there was a hole in the net!
  5. That's it. Charlie Brigain, Paul Parkin & Keith Salton
  6. On this day in 2005, The BU's travelled to Musselburgh in the Brown Cup. Their side contained 3 players who were to sign for the BU's at the end of the season. Name them?
  7. A relatively recent flashback to 2011 today and a 5th round Junior Cup tie at old opponents Petershill. This was played on their artificial surface at Petershill Park, which opened in 2007. Not surprisingly, it was a close game, with the home team striking the post twice but a Will Snowdon angled drive in the 15th minute settled the tie. The team was: Longmuir, Snowdon, Hunter, Forrest, McQueen, Fraser, McLaren (Donnelly) (Ballantine) (Hamilton), Shirra, McFadyen, Plenderleith, Walker and yes, the first two subs were subbed because of injury!
  8. March 4th This day takes us back to 1972 and a season where the BU's did not draw any league matches. It was the turn of Bonnybridge to visit Newtown and they were soundly beaten 5-0, courtesy of a hat-trick by Dave McOwat. The scoring was completed by Andy Noblett and an own goal. The side that won was: Anderson, Oliver, McQueen, Simpson, Frew, Zelman, Sinclair, Millar, Noblett, McGregor, McOwat sub E Logan
  9. Clearly still has a hangover, gives the wrong answer after the right answer confirmed.
  10. A two part teaser today. On this day in 2007 in 2007 a future boss played against us. Who was it and what team was he playing for?
  11. Back in 1979, the BU's travelled to Creamery Park for a Junior Cup 4th Round tie against Bathgate Thistle. The same 13 that had beaten Wishaw the week before were named again: Howie, Robertson, McQueen, Miller, Stewart, Boyd, Dunleavie (Craw), Masterton, Logan, Reid, McDonald sub Taylor Bobby Masterton scored within 3 minutes, while later Ian Miller missed a rare penalty. Right after half-time an Ian McQueen own goal sparked a home revival and they led until the final minute, when the BU's were awarded a stonewall second penalty. This time, skipper Lenny Reid blasted high into the net to earn a replay after a 2-2 draw.
  12. 1968 saw a visit to Firs Park, the temporary home of Camelon in a League match. The BU's returned home with a 3-0 win under their belts. The team that day was: Crawford, McGuinness, McCandless, McMeechan, Gray, McQueen, Heenan, Cowan, McGuire, J Sneddon, Watson. The scorers were Brian Watson, with a double and Benny McGuire.
  13. For your teaser, this day in 2003 we played an old rival for the very last time. Which club was it?
  14. Now to Championship season 1969 and this date saw a demolition of visitors Bonnybridge by 7-1. The team was: McCluskey, McCandless, Makarus, McMeechan, Hamilton, Donnelly, Bernard, Nisbet, Lourie, Simpson, Watson Doubles were scored by Brian Watson and Joe McMeechan. The other goals came from Frank Donnelly, Bobby Nisbet and Ian Lourie.
  15. The shoot-out at Fauldhouse finished 9-8 to the BU's. A much more recent teaser today, as we go to 2015 and an East of Scotland Cup tie at Kinnoull. The BU's won 2-1 but which substitute scored the winner?
  16. We go to 1976 now and a visit to Prestonfield in the League. Bo'ness came home with a 1-0 win over Linlithgow Rose, with the winner being scored by Billy Mitchell. The team was: Ferguson, J McQueen, McGuinness, McGeachie, I McQueen, Miller, Scobie, Balanowski, Mitchell, Temperley, Anderson subs Robinson, Taylor
