  1. That's right, Craig. That's why he picked the same formation and (pretty much) players who beat Brechin the last time we were up there.
  2. It wasn't inexplicable. It was pretty obvious why he did it.
  3. Cook is a very talented player. Has a bit of a chequered/inconsistent career IIRC, but has the potential to he an important player for us. Him plus Parry, Graham, Hetherington and McKweon are a good start to the squad.
  4. Excellent post. The only thing I would say is the more recent time we played Brechin away we started with just Mackin up front IIRC and we had both Robbo and Stevie H in midfield - so he's gone with that again, which I personally think was reasonable. I think he was also trying to stiffen midfield for the away leg given the performance at Airdrie where we were well beaten. Personally I think Goodwin has done pretty well so far. FB however makes some valid critical points and it will be interesting to see whether these turn out to be problematical weaknesses or not.
  5. You'll still get slated for emotional, nonsensical pish comments - no matter whom they are about. [emoji6]
  6. A bit surprised Jack has taken Jordan, but I wish him all the best and really hope he does well there. Clearly Jack knows hid strengths and will play him in a position that uses those.
  7. No. Apart from that and claiming Holmes wasn't a regular starter, I agree in general with bsd's post. We've only really released one player who normally started (and one I'm particularly bothered about losing) - the aforementioned Holmes. No doubt there will be a few more who go as they'll get better offers elsewhere, but there's no real rebuilding job required at the moment.
  8. Anyone know what Tom used to wipe his bum? Do the team cars have a supply of bog roll for such an emergency?
  9. Indeed. Very disappointed that Holmer is away. Hoped he'd see out his career with us. One of my favourite Alloa players. [emoji20]
  10. Indeed, bland that was clearly a tactical decision.
  11. I don't recall Greig being dropped or 'hauled off at the first opportunity' very often.
  12. Yeah, that's true. Although it's difficult to get injured sitting on a bench. [emoji6] Flanny's back did once go into spasm when he was sub and got up to go in for his half-time cup of tea.
  13. I'd agree with that. Made even better of course as they had Simmy in front, Scott Bain behind and Doyle/Meggatt at the side of them. Comfortably the best back six I've seen at Alloa.
  14. Yes, it's a similar situation, but centre back is a position you want consistency in. When Flanny is, inevitably, out injured then other players can step in or the formation can easily be changed with minimum disruption. That's not the same for centre back. Flanny has played a lot of games this season and, of course, he's a class act, but there's always that doubt that he'll not 'get injured' when things aren't going well for the team.
  15. I don't think that would be much of a rebuild. Only two of those players are first eleven. Like Oweny, I'm not sure why we would want rid of Holmer. If we'd gone up fair enough, but he's still easily good enough at Div 1 level for a couple of years IMO, possibly more. Marr has been a brilliant player for us and I wish him well, but the problem with having him as one of your first choice centre backs is you need a ready made replacement in the squad to fill in during his inevitable time out through injuries.
  16. Great effort, mate. The time, not beating old Chris B.
  17. Geraint Thomas doing remarkably well in the time trial after the bad crash and exertions of Sunday's stage.
  18. I love it when there's a genuine surprise winner. In pink as well.
