  1. Surely an alias/troll, but if not what a pile of warm shite. Fines for not "providing a full squad"! [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]
  2. Stewart is very mobile for his size. Can play in a variety of positions - likes to drop deep and pick up the ball.
  3. I agree. Greig looks stronger and also is causing a nuisance of himself competing for long balls, and linking play quite well when he does get on the end of these. We'll need even more from him in this respect though as we progress through the season. It's up to him to keep that physical side if his game up and, indeed, even improve it.
  4. Goody's comments about the ref are irrelevant in the debate. Managers nearly always have a bit of a moan about refs after a loss (irrespective of how the ref has performed) - it's an easy, and lazy, deflection/excuse for them. I'd say at least 95% of managers don't properly understand the laws of the game - so they aren't really qualified to pass accurate judgement.
  5. I don't think Greig actually tried to cleanly win a long ball in the air all day. He was mainly trying to draw a foul or put the defender off enough that he mistimed his headed clearance. That's not meant as a criticism, it's not his strength and it's probably the most effective thing he could do, especially against the likes of Callum Morris. As usual, I thought the ref was fine and the three officials did well in the circumstances.
  6. Really difficult shift for the team yesterday. Ross Co were excellent from the start and never let up; clearly they had had a rocket up their arses after the defeat at Arbroath. I thought Robbo and wee Kev were the two outfield players who matched up best against the level County were at. Jake Hastie's pace and power will cause team's problems if we can get more of the ball to him. Defence did OK on a tough afternoon. As Waspie says, we are obviously at least 3 players short and 3 better quality than we have currently. For me at least two if those need to be strikers to give us a realistic shot at staying up.
  7. How has Flanny been in the two competitive games? I thought he was outstanding in a central role in the two friendlies I saw; he was IMO better than anything Falkirk had in midfield.
  8. Out in the Alps for yesterday's finish and today's start. Absolutely loving it. We were in Seez, a village about two km into the final climb yesterday, started to walk down the hill after the race finished and there's a cyclist coming up the hill - Cav. Everyone had gone past long ago. [emoji16]
  9. Agree, we have a decent base now to start the season on Tuesday. We still need 3 (at least I'd say) quality players to come in, but those will surely be through loans.
  10. I agree with you, mate, although that's not how we played. We had as much if the ball and as much attacking intent as Falkirk last night. Having said that, I know there will be lots of times this season we did set up more defensively - most of our away games I expext. And we will be happy with that.
  11. Or his description of the way Alloa played is either that of an idiot or troll. Either way it's nonsense. PS I never really thought he was a troll for a second.
  12. Is this guy a troll or an idiot? I appreciate they aren"t mutually exclusive.
  13. Yeah, we clearly need at least three quality players, and I'm sure we will try and address that through loans if required.
  14. No, Hartley was long gone by then. Encouraging game from an Alloa point of view last night, although I'm under no illusions how hard this season will be for us. Falkirk probably just about deserved to edge it. They were comfortable at the back and had the better chances - only 2 or 3 of those though, Parry having 2 good saves from a Dennon 1 on 1 (from a tight angle) and a Dallison header (or maybe someone else cleared that one off the line). Dallison strolled the game again (I was at the Airdrie game) and looks a class act. Big Mackin actually caused us more problems when he came on with his physical presence. The lad Allan was also a handful, but the game had opened up a bit by then. It's clear that Falkirk still lack enough of a goal threat, but that may come through the development of the team they have. A 15/20 goals a season man would help of course - but then every team could say that. I'd complain about Paton kicking the excellent Flannigan, but if he was in my side I'd have loved it. And it was very Goodwin-like. [emoji4]
