  1. And that Meggat has been released. Good news on the signings even though they were expected. With Trouten also signed up that's the nucleus of the squad sorted. Now it's about adding as much quality as Jim can persuade to come along for the ride.
  2. Yes you do. Goodwin would see him in training. He'd decide whether to give any youngster a first team chance based primarily on that, not on whether he is knocking in goals in the development league. None of the youngsters now released has shown enough to be retained for next year. In fact IMO none of them showed enough to be retained were we still in division 1. Good luck to them all though.
  3. I don't think he had much choice. He hasn"t exactly set things on fire at Clyde.
  4. Spot on from Jim IMO. Wish all of the players released the best for the future. The likes of Frank, Garry, Kris Renton and Malcolm will get plenty offers IMO. Cook will probably go to Stenny. Certainly at the right club Fleming and, maybe, Renton will do a job in division 1. Hope the youngsters stay in the game too.
  5. You'll need better if you are going for promotion. He's OK as a squad player. ETA Kris did well in the playoffs when he came on.
  6. I think we all understand what you are saying. It that's we don't actually agree with it. Certainly I don't. There's no gamble involved except in your opinion. There's nothing to suggest Goodwin only thinks Trouten will only cut it in league 1.
  7. Yes. But why 'had to'? We didn't have to, did we?
  8. Huge congratulations to Jim, his staff and the players. We were far from brilliant over the course of the season, but got the job done to make the play offs and peaked at exactly the right time. The January loan signings were key, especially Stewart and Kirky, who transformed our attacking threat. Smith and McCart also did well. Other players also seemed to up their form at the business end - Flanny, wee Kev, Crane. While Taggs, big Neil, Andy Graham, Stevie H and Robbo were consistent throught the year. As was Fleming when moved back. From the non loan players I'd keep Parry (if he's not away), Taggs, Andy, Robbo, Stevie H, Garry, Cawley and Flanny. Possibly Meggat too. If we can persuade Crane to throw in his lot with us and get Stewart back for another year I'd be happy with that as a nucleus. But we'd need to add several players of better quality. Trouten's a start but we'll need better than him. It might be that Jim thinks Fleming and Graham don't have the pace to play at the higher level. Or he might decide he needs their leadership and attitude. We'll see.
  9. Commiserations. You've had unbelievable run to stay in the Championship.
  10. It's OK. I'm sure Jim G had already told Aitken his starting eleven and tactics. [emoji6]
  11. Brilliant from Mitchelton Scott with Yates allowing Chavez to take the win atop Etna as he had been in the breakaway all day. Yates looked 'super strong' and now leads the GC standings. Froome and Aru held onto the rest of a small group of leaders about half a minute back. We could have a cracking race on our hands.
  12. Occasionally yes it does, but not often and that has to be set against how good and consistent the rest of his game is and also how well he fits into the defensive unit. He looks most comfortable with Taggs' pace beside him, but he'll not have that in the final as the latter will be right back. Apparently Andy is also a brilliant lad in the dressing room and training; a real leader and positive influence. He's been great for us. I totally get the 'not good enough for the Championship' argument. I'd certainly have concerns about Andy and Fleming in particular if we were to go up. Taggs and Cawley would be fine I'm sure. Taggs has improved over the two years with us and is now one of our leaders and most consistent performers, and of course is quick. Wee Kev was OK last year and at the start of this, but has hit his form of old in recent weeks. He seems to have been given (or taken?) more freedom. He's still not being played in his best position (through the middle). Jordan I'm not sure about. He's been a brilliant player for us; 17 goals from midfield last year and several since Jan this, but he may prove to be a luxury with the step up. Alternatively he may prove to be key in staying up as he has a habit of producing goals from nowhere (as on Sat). [emoji4]
  13. You'll scoosh the final then, as they are amongst our best players.
  14. Bully Wee Villa determined to make it all about him. He's seen the video dontcha know. [emoji38]
  15. Probably because there aren't actually any.
