  1. I agree with both of these points. On paper signings like Malcom, Cook and, in particular, Fleming looked good enough to have us challenging at the top end of the table, but all three have been very disappointing and at least part of that must be down to the manager. Renton was unproven at our level, but he is the attacking signing who has done best even if he hasn't set the heather on fire. Jim's worst signing decision by a long way remains releasing Holmer. Never be able to get my head around that one.
  2. We'd had a brilliant start to the season under Hartley (following two great seasons and consecutive promotions). He didn't 'rage quit' or leave us in the lurch IMO. The team that he left contained the nucleus of the team that stayed up that season and also the following one. We were relegated at the end of our third season in the Championship mainly because Danny Lennon failed to hang onto that nucleus. Hartley has been the best and most successful manager at Alloa in the last 40 years IMO. He was clearly also a success with Dundee until last year. Probably was due a bad season. It happens to pretty much all good managers.
  3. Paul Hartley would be a very good appointment IMO. He'd relish the challenge and is a proven success in the championship.
  4. St Mirren were "relegation certainties" when Jack Ross took over, now they are a point off the top and have scored 17 goals (Falkirk have 5).
  5. I don't actually ref, just done the exam. I don't have the temperament for it. [emoji6]
  6. Definitely. Dumoulin provides a different challenge; better in a TT and so Froome will need to take time off him in the mountains. Will he interesting to see how Sunweb position themselves for next season to give Tom support for the Tour, assuming that's what he goes for.
  7. Just another crazy day's cycling with a team bus burnt out, a couple of mental fan related incidents, Froome crashing twice in quick succession and some entertainjng racing led by Bertie. ????
  8. Pity we didn't sign Duncan as well. Or is he the one in rehab?
  9. Good luck to Craig. Has done very well as cover for us over the last several years.
  10. Yeah, a bit odd. Maybe it's belatedly dawned on Jim G that McKweon/Graham as a partnership lacks pace. Not sure if last week was purely a tactical decision against a mobile and quality Hibs attack.
  11. I'd say the opposite is the case. If they fancied him, he'd bein or on the edge of the match day squad.
  12. Enjoyed the game. Two teams who played football. Arbroath have a lot of ability in the final third. I thought they also defended well when we were on top, which we were for pretty much the whole of the second half. Cook was poor and Arbroath dealt with Fleming and Renton well. So early days on those three. Might take a few weeks to gel/ get the balance right in an attacking sense. Obviously Malcolm needs to come into that mix.
  13. Another cracking stage. Agree that AG2R missed sn opportunity to put the boot into Froome when he was down, but credit to him and Sky for the effort to get back on. Landa once again did an immense job.
  14. Disappointing that Aru gave up so many seconds to Froome on what should have been a nothing GC stage. Froome a strong favourite now for yellow in Paris. Cracking win for Matthews a la Sagan.
