  1. Plenty of time / running out of time. Make up your mind, FFS.
  2. They're down in the Donkey League. They'll win Hee Haw.
  3. DFC fans enjoy your weekend, we are your bitches today. Hope we can recover and throw it back to you next time.
  4. Isn't that what Bolton is supposed to be ? Does anyone else think Connor McMenamin needs a wee spell on the bench ? Lately he seems to be low in confidence and has been struggling to zip past his defender. Maybe a spell as a last 20 minutes impact substitute might benefit him.
  5. Some interesting opinions on this thread about Baccus. I remember seeing his first few appearances for us in pre-season matches and was immensely impressed by his skill, his attitude and commitment, but most of all his fitness - what an engine this boy displayed. I'm not convinced that I'm still seeing such intensity from him in recent games. I hope this is just a blip as I still rate him highly.
  6. A good few St Mirren fans here moaning that we didn't match our normal standards tonight. Yes that's true but probably fails to give due credit to Hibs, especially in the first half, when their forwards and midfield played a fast, pressing game giving our lot very little opportunities to settle on the ball and play as creatively as we know they can.
  7. Strange how we can form different opinions watching the same game. I actually thought Boyd Munce had a decent shift tonight having been given more responsibility in the heart of midfield with Baccus sitting on the bench until the second half.
  8. Motherwell FC - A thread for all seasons ....... in the Championship (and beyond ?).
  9. Presumably because Strain's was deemed to have been intentional.
  10. In terms of pure enjoyment, entertainment and 'cannae wait for Saturday to come', I'd have to nominate the Ferguson era, in particular the promotion season. Amazing European nights in the eighties ! Anglo-Scottish Cup success ! Next best would be the Tom Hendrie promotion season, hugely entertaining and goals galore. Yardley and Lavety up front, Tommy Turner controlling midfield and defence. Some of my most memorable St Mirren games were in that season (Raith away those 2 late goals, gubbing Morton away, Paul McKnight's winner at Ayr, etc). If we can hold on to Robinson and the cire of our current squad then perhaps we can achieve something similar in the top division.
  11. I've enjoyed re-reading some of the posts in this thread back in July after we lost 0-2 in a kickabout against Morton (pages 1946-1950 or thereabouts). Umpteen Morton-supporting roasters giving it full-strength bravado about both teams' prospects for this season - we are going down, Morton going up, blah, blah, blah. Has anyone seen Colkitto or Purplemonkeydishwasher posting in this thread lately ? The only one l back then spouting that 'St Mirren are sure to be shite this season' , and who stills posts on here is, of course, Elvis.
  12. Jeanfield Swifts must be shitting themselves.
  13. What a dreadful match this has been.
  14. Would Martindale even be tempted by this vacancy ? Out of the frying pan into the fire IMO. Whoever takes over at McDermid will probably demand upfront a guarantee of the board's approval to have a major clear out of duds in January. Ending contracts and signing new players will be an expensive business (on top of the cost of already paying off, or paying wages to, 2 ex-managers and coaches). Do St Johnstone have enough cash in the bank to afford this, and would Geoff Brown be prepared to sanction it ?
  15. That has to be the shortest "parted-company" club statement ever. Not even the obligatory "thanks for his efforts" or "wish him all the best for the future". Short and (not remotely) sweet.
  16. I feel a bit sorry for Costelloe for the stick the Perth fans are dishing out to him on here. If the other ten in the blue shirts had matched his effort the result might have been a bit closer.
  17. I'm just annoyed I didn't punt a few quid on PAOK at 70 minutes.
  18. Has there been any confirmation about the allegations (true or apophrical ?) of a large number of cars being ticketed for parking offences around the stadium at our last home game ? Are the 'authorities' aiming at football supporters as an easy target for their fundraising efforts, or were those stories a pile of pish ? Anyone know ?
  19. I think Lasley's statement failed to mention our commitment to continue pillaging onfield talent from Ireland and Australia.
