  1. We signed Taylor from Waterford and he hasn't played since October. The deal is short term to see how he would get on. However he was really good last night and far better than I expected - I thought he would be a real weak link. To be fair almost all of Robinson's signings have been very good.
  2. What a difference Gogic has made to the midfield. The man is a machine. Covers every blade of grass all over the park; closes down and wins balls off the opposition more than any player I have watched. Pity it has taken this long to give him a starting place.
  3. We played Away at Killie with 10 men for 89 mins and Carson only had two saves to make. We can be a very difficult team to break down. Injuries and suspensions make our squad very weak. Hopefully Strain is fit (excellent player) but Flynn did a great job when he came in on Saturday. Touch and go about Gallagher being fit - hopefully he is. Gogic is great in midfield but will likely be moved into the back line in Gallagher's place. Kiltie would come in for Gogic if that was the case. Biggest uncertainty is starting our new signing Richard Taylor from Waterford in the back line - a complete unknown. We can still rustle up a good starting eleven but will have Academy players on the bench which will be our greatest weakness. Tight game with few goals but loads of excitement. Away draw.
  4. Get real. Do you think Fraser, who had been taking our free kicks from that position, deliberately jumped over his own player to land on the Hearts guy to break his leg with a minute to go? Really? I was about 20 feet away from the incident and Fraser apologised to the Hearts guy and explained to the ref why he was jumping over them. The ref accepted the response until Var told him to take another look. Fraser had to go as he landed on the guy but there was no intent. Muppet.
  5. There was 1 minute to go and the ref had blown for a foul for us. Fraser jumped over the two on the ground to get the ball to take a quick free kick to launch it into the box for a last gasp attempt. Unfortunately he landed on the Hearts player.

  7. Really good display yesterday. Gogic was excellent winning everything in midfield, closing down, tracking back, winning headers and pushing forward. Greive was also excellent never giving the Jambos defence a moment's peace .(Main and Greive offer a lot more that Main and Ayunga imho.) Yes he missed one sitter (one pass from Main was a yard too far in front and the other was played behind him - no chance with either), but otherwise pegged their defence back . Big Joe too had a very good game considering he hasn't played this season. Gallagher I would think should be fit for Fri as he just failed a fitness test at 1:30 on Sat and was close to starting. Hopefully Strain is OK. Onwards to Tynecastle.
  8. Final result disappointing but plenty of positives on today's game. Gogic was man of the match - excellent display in midfield.
  9. I was at the game back in 86 and was gutted that we were thrashed by Celtic and that Hearts didn't win the League. Immediately afterwards I was surprised at the vitriol aimed at St Mirren from Hearts fans and some pundits as if them losing the League had anything to do with St Mirren. They did it all by themselves. It became amusing but is now boring and I just do not see where their anger comes from however I feel it is dissipating. Time to move on.
  10. The good thing about us these days is we have a settled team and a settled formation. If anyone is out someone else slots in. We don't change tactics or formation and it has worked well. Everyone knows their job. And for the first time in many years we have a strong bench so can usually bring on like for like which doesn't weaken the team. (The exception being up top - Main and Ayunga are battering rams but poor in front of goal. Greive & Brophy are natural strikers so can offer a better threat once the opposition defence is reeling). And of course everyone underestimates us. Hearts are clearly a better team than Aberdeen but we beat Celtic at home and were beating Sevco until the Rangers employee that was the ref gave them a soft penalty with 5 mins to go. Another tough game for us but expect at least a point and there is no reason why we shouldn't be looking for three. And after our last two Away games we could maybe for the first time in many years get a point at Tynecastle. Whatever happens I expect both games to be very close.
  11. Gogic is a far better player than Erhahon. Ethan has a great left foot and can make a few very good passes in a game. That's about it. He is so one-side that opponents stroll past his right side as if he wasn't there; he stands off players not closing them down, and doesn't track runners. He avoids heading the ball. His idea of imposing himself is stupid fouls and shouting at the ref. Gogic may not have the passing ability but provides everything else that Ethan can't. I would also have Kiltie starting before him. Ethan has improved this season with his workrate and attitude but his game awareness is poor and he is still anonymous most of the game with too many square passes and back passes when he should be dictating from his position.
  12. Erhahon deserved his red card as you cannot raise a hand to an opponent especially off the ball. Even if that opponent makes a meal of it. However the two handed push to the ground on Baccus was also a red card so Killie got away with that one. Thought Killie were very poor in the circumstances. A million cross field passes going nowhere. No desire or thrust through the lines but just hopeful punts into the box. And the subs had no impact whatsoever which must be a concern. To be fair we were a wee bit like that when we played against 10 men last week for 30 mins before we decided to run directly at the Livi defence and be brave on the ball instead of passing sideways and should have won the game. Killie should have been braver.
  13. Brophy has to start. On Wed he kept possession well and his passing was fast and accurate. Made the goal and although he should have passed to Main for a winner at least he had the conviction to shoot. And I'd probably play Kiltie to replace O'Hara. Rugby Park has never been a happy hunting ground for the games I have attended over many years. But this is a new era so an Away win.
  14. I prefer a player to take responsibility and shoot rather than abdicate responsibility and pass when they are already in a position to take a shot.
  15. Holt can play against us as Livi have appealed the ordering off. Nouble may also be back. Strangely I am confident about this. We have only been beaten once in our last 5 visits. How we start is crucial. On Saturday we did not press enough from the start (not for the first time) and allowed Aberdeen to dictate play. Get in their faces to begin with and I think we have the workrate and energy to dominate play. Ayunga and Main may be hopeless in front of goal but they can demolish any defence allowing others to score.
  16. Gogic was excellent last season as our defensive midfielder so an able replacement to slot into the team. And Kiltie has also been excellent playing a wee bit deeper than he usually plays. He was tremendous against Newco when Baccus was out. And we are allegedly after Scott Robertson of Celtic (played 50 games in League One in Engerland and played in the Europa League) and a loan for Alfie McCalmont who has 4 full caps for Northern Ireland. So we have plenty of midfield cover. And I was told Olusanya was the best player on the pitch in the bounce game against Blackpool. Ethan was always going to go and with 6 months left on his contract best it happen now and we get some dosh to balance books and enhance the squad.
  17. If the teams below you win their games in hand Aberdeen will be 6th. You would be 5 points behind St Mirren who would be 3rd.
  18. And was that the craziest booking of the season? Gallagher comes up the park to take a long throw, as he had done all game, but Walsh books Strain for not taking the throw in?
  19. Before today we had conceded 6 penalties to VAR and hadn't had a penalty all season. But Santa tried to address this imbalance. 3 more penalties in future games should even us out. Amazing that Aberdeen let Gallgher go considering what they now have on offer. Thought Clarkson and Kennedy were excellent for them. Main and Ayunga work hard but have zero composure. Glad that long pass into an empty net didn't fall to either of them. We always make things difficult for ourselves when winning with 20 mins to go. Need to work on that. O'Hara MoM.
  20. Reckon we'll show Goodwin how he should have played Celtic. We sit in our own half and press when the opposition cross the half way line. When we get it back it is a calvary charge in numbers up the park. Percentage wise we have relatively little of the ball but often have more shots on target than the opposition. The Dons have had two games this week however we have played a few closed door games (Blackpool, Hearts, Well and Queens Park) so there should be some match fitness. Prediction is a Home win and the pressure to mount on Jim.
  21. Listened to the insincere apology and switched off again. He said he didn't have the full story - so why condemn and embarrass someone when you did not know the facts?
  22. Motherwell should forfeit the game. 3-0 Away win. They knew in advance of sub zero temperatures but couldn't afford/be bothered to go to B&Q and buy some pipe lagging nor put a wee heater on. Amateurish and embarrassing.
  23. The issue was there had been a report of racist language towards a Hibs player during the game. Bartley said racist language was unacceptable which he was right to do in his role as SFA Equality Advisor as well as a human being. Before a proper enquiry took place and with several sources saying the language was 'misheard' and no racist comments were made Cowan went off on one and repeatedly demanded that Bartley phoned into the show and issue an apology. Cowan was way, way over the top in his condemnation of Bartley with his repeated calls for him to go live on air and apologise (and why should he issue an apology if one was due, on OTB when it had nothing to do with them?). Cowan followed this attack up via social media. Bartley is quite right in calling out Cowan for his sustained attack on him now that he has been proven right and not responded before now. But Cowan cannot even personally apologise to the man. Shows what a shit Cowan is. The BBC should dump this misogynist and petty dinosaur.
  24. Aye, Cowan seems to have a wee grudge book and brings it out when he has an opportunity to have a go at someone.
