  1. That's understandable for people who don't know the full facts of the situation, however informed people will look at the reality of the situation. The WoSFL was formed in 2020, and its first season was cut short by Covid and was declared null and void. It's second season produced a licensed champion in Darvel who unfortunately lost the play-off to Tranent. Season 3 produced a champion in Beith who were unlicensed due to various factors (some outwith their control, including a freeze on licensing applications by the Scottish FA), and it looks now very much like the same scenario will occur at the end of season 4. The WoSFL has licensed clubs in all five of its Divisions, with 50% of the current Premier Division teams already licensed. I wonder what percentage of the EoSFL and the SoSFL were licensed only four years on from that possibility opening up to them ? I genuinely don't know the answer to that.
  2. The SPFL don't run The Scottish Cup.
  3. Unfortunately Beith would not be allowed to compete in the play-offs this season if they were to win the league. Auchinleck Talbot, Clydebank, Darvel or Pollok are all Scottish FA licensed clubs so would be able to take part in the play-offs. Clubs need an Entry Level licence to get into the Lowland League.
  4. Scone would be a good venue, from memory their ground is in a public park.
  5. The battle to avoid the last relegation place still to be decided is an interesting one. Cambuslang Rangers need to win both of their two remaining games to have any chance of staying up, and they need Maybole Juniors to lose all of their remaining four games. That may seem unlikely, but maybe not as far-fetched as it may seem when you look at the fixtures. Maybole v Cambuslang is first up next Saturday. Anything other than an away win ends the issue. However, if Cambuslang were to win, it becomes interesting. 'Lang's last match is at home against a Petershill side who now look to be out of the promotion race, while Maybole's three other matches are against Johnstone Burgh, Drumchapel United and Rutherglen Glencairn, all teams who currently still have plenty to play for. Maybole will be looking to get the job done next Saturday, they just need to avoid defeat at home to a team who have only won one away league match all season so far. If 'Lang were to win, though, it would be squeaky bum time for Maybole.
  6. That wouldn't be a prediction, that's a certainty.
  7. Did he ? My recollection was that the position was vacant due to Scott's resignation, and Kennie stood for election along with Robert Burns from Arthurlie.
  8. I don't recall many people standing against Scott, to be fair.
  9. I don't think Scott Robertson was ever the chair of the West Region or the WoSFL.
  10. We may as well not hold the vote at the AGM then, Vanderbilt has decided the outcome.
  11. Glencairn have confirmed the team captain Dom McLaughlin, long-serving midfielder Sean McGuire and left-sided defender/midfielder Mathew Meechan have all signed new contracts to stay with the club for season 2024-25.
  12. Murdie McKinnon's departure from Cumnock was announced less than 90 minutes after the announcement of Jamie McKim's departure from Johnstone Burgh.
  13. I'm not Alex, and neither is my wife.
  14. And still we battle on. Five wins on the bounce, six games undefeated, another clean sheet and we're now up to 2nd place. All we can do is put points on the board and see where we end up. We're very aware that winning all of our three remaining games might still not be enough, but we're giving it our best shot. We have no game next Saturday, so we can rest up and be hopefully quite fresh for the visit of Shotts Bon Accord, who have four scheduled matches to play (v Darvel, Petershill (or Pollok), Johnstone Burgh and Drumchapel United) between now and coming to Rutherglen, while we are resting. Hopefully that will work in our favour, but only time will tell.
  15. That's exactly the reason why the WoSFL changed its rules at last summer's AGM, in the event of the Premier champions winning promotion to the Lowland League and no team being relegated from the LL into the WoSFL. The previous rule was that the third bottom team in each league would be spared from relegation, but that changed to the fourth top team in the leagues below all being promoted, with the three teams being relegated being the certainty.
  16. Only once so far. It may happen again this year, time will tell. This is only the third full season of the WoSFL's existence. You make it sound like this is a recurring issue over decades.
  17. There is a well-publicised date for it opening up, i.e. after this year's AGM.
