  1. There were so many pitches crammed in together at Toryglen (where Asda is now) that they pretty much ran into each other. There was about 2 yards between the 18 yard line and the shy line, no wonder we didn't produce any wingers between Jimmy Johnstone and Neil McCann !
  2. The pitch at Guy's Meadow was looking as good as I've ever seen it last Saturday.
  3. That was a really good performance by us tonight. We moved the ball sharply and at pace all night, our passing was accurate and we looked a real threat going forward. Jamie McGowan had a great game in goals for Ladeside or it could have been a good few more goals. We switched off at 2-0 just before half time and gave Kilbirnie some hope with a sloppy own goal in stoppage time, but ten minutes into the second half we'd scored another two and we were comfortable. Ladeside pulled another back but never really looked like getting back into the game. Standards set, that's what we're capable of, more of the same please.
  4. Excellent highlights as usual. I'm not convinced there was any contact for Cumbernauld's penalty. Their second claim was a slip, again no contact, a good call by the referee that time. We should have had at least one penalty, I can't believe the first one wasn't given when McManus is clattered into from behind. The one near the end is less convincing but absolutely more contact than there appeared to be at the penalty that was given. Perhaps the fact that it was deep into stoppage time influenced the referee into not giving it. On to Wednesday night and Kilbirnie at home.
  5. New thread for the new season. A not too bad result to start the season, same as we got last season, 2-2 away from home. It was good to battle back from behind twice, showed a bit of fight. It was a cracking game to watch actually, both teams going at each other, meaty tackles, good passing football mixed with long ball when appropriate, bad misses, good saves, good finishes. I'm looking forward to Gerry's highlights.
  6. They're a tier above us so they will be favourites, but we're at home. We've never lost at home in The Scottish Cup.
  7. The point I was really making was that there is no scenario where the 3rd bottom teams are spared from relegation.
  8. It only takes a licensed team to win the Premier Division and the play-off, as no team has been relegated into the WoSFL so far.
  9. Three teams go down from each league regardless (except the Fourth Division obviously). If the WoSFL champions are licensed and win the play-off, coupled with no team being relegated into the WoSFL from the Lowland League, then the 4th placed team in each league also gets promoted.
  10. We are pleased to confirm the signing of central defender Oli Black on loan from St Cadoc's until the end of season 2024-25. Oli (age 20) has featured in all of our pre-season matches, and also has playing experience with Kilsyth Rangers, Broomhill and Partick Thistle youths.
  11. Seats are not a requirement for Scottish FA Licensing at Entry Level.
  12. We are pleased to confirm that midfielder Isaac Frain is the latest player to join the long list of players who have stepped up from our Under 21s team to join the first team squad. Isaac, who is now 22 years old, scored the winning goal v Cambuslang Rangers during pre-season.
  13. We are pleased to confirm that midfielder Ross Smith has agreed a deal to remain with the club for season 2024-25. Ross joined the club 18 months ago and has featured in various positions over his 28 appearances, scoring 4 goals.
  14. That was a very encouraging performance from us this afternoon. We matched a very good Premier Division side (St Cadoc's) in every department except for putting the ball in the net once. The Sr Cadoc's goal shouldn't have counted for me, as there was a clear foul on a Glencairn player in the build-up, but the referee chose to ignore it and we paid the price. We took on a very tough schedule of matches, so hopefully we'll see a benefit from that. We were much tighter defensively today and could (arguably should) have won the game on the balance of chances. But now for the real stuff.
  15. A similar story tonight v Beith to our game v Johnstone Burgh. We competed very well first half, had the better chances, hit the bar just before half time, then Beith scored in stoppage time. Beith upped the tempo after the break and our heads went for twenty minutes or so, and suddenly we found ourselves five goals down. Beith looked a big strong squad. Onto another stern test on Saturday now away to St Cadoc's.
  16. We are pleased to announce the signing of midfielder Danny Connor, age 22. Danny spent last season at St Cadoc's, having previously gained playing experience with Sauchie Juniors and East Kilbride FC. Danny made his debut for The Glens in the recent friendly v Johnstone Burgh.
