    It really is strange the way Rovers have handled this. It goes against everything the board has preached in recent years. The only thing I can think of is that it might persuade players who have one or two offers from other clubs to sign for us.

    Everything about this signing suggests that he'll be first choice because both McGurn and Laidlaw have some way to go. Maybe we'll have only one fit goalie for the start of the season.

    I don't think Laidlaw will be moving on - a loan to Dunfermline or some other team of a lower standing is on the cards. That being the case we now have 13 players if you include Ellis so there's still a long way to go.
