  1. Certainly don't foresee any problems, forecast looks ok with sleet tomorrow morning turning to rain by lunchtime.
  2. Friend of mine worked in the passport office for a spell, doing the interviews for first time applicants. Goes in for his lunch one day and one of the girls who did the same job was crumpled over a table in tears of laughter. She had been interviewing a 17 year old boy, and getting any sort of conversation out of him was tough going. She finally got him to chat a little, he was unemployed and she asked how he spent his days. "Play the XBox. I spend a fair bit of time with my sister and her wee boy." "What's his name.?" "Spartacus."
  3. Notre Dame WR Chase Claypool put up some impressive numbers in the physical drills.
  4. Denmark have just obliterated the 4k team pursuit record which they set yesterday. The record was over 3.48 the other day, they have just gone 3.44.672, taking another 1.5 seconds off the time they set yesterday.
  5. Never ever been as confident of getting 10 before I hit the submit button. 8/10 for Thursday. Cholera and Caribbean wrong.
  6. He wouldn't need run out of town, social work would have removed him long ago.
  7. Still under contract, but seems likely to be traded. Franchise tag deadline is tomorrow, so a lot of players will be hitting the open market after that.
  8. South Africa started badly and didn't get any better, all out for 96 to lose with a whimper.
  9. Not sure what is going on with Ruchill tbh, I've heard it has been unmanned for almost a year due to "staff shortages", but that also conveniently meant the council couldn't record any usage stats. The three 18 holers all have at least 2 or 3 clubs who use then on a Saturday and Sunday morning, I was a member of one of them at Linn Park for a few years. The club cost at that time £35 a year, and had competitions every week and as an SGU affiliated club got you a proper CONGU handicap. Linn Park was originally a par 3 course which was extended, so has a lot of short par 4s, but does have some terrific holes. My favourites were the downhill dogleg left 2nd, which was a drivable par 4 even for me if you got your tee shot to kick left in the right place, and the short par 3 16th. Littlehill was the first course I ever played, aged about 14 with a set of wooden shafted clubs picked up from a BB jumble sale. My previous golfing experience was pitch and putt and knocking a 7 iron around the local park. I can still remember standing on the first tee and thinking how far away the flag looked. Plenty of fond memories of playing up there, and I can just see the top of the course from my back window. Will have to go up and have a final round on it if it is going to close. Didn't play Lethamhill as much as the other two, but it was always a course I enjoyed playing. That 18th hole is an utter c**t though.
  10. In a plot twist that took even him by surprise, novelist Clive Cussler dies at age 88.
  11. Bruce Arians was very non committal when asked at the combine about Jameis Winston's future at the Buccs yesterday. He was asked about both the QB and OLB Shaq Barrett and this was his reply. "Yes. One is the sack leader. They’re hard to find and I know he wants to be in this defense. The other is an unknown quantity to me still. Five thousand yards and (33) touchdowns is awesome. Thirty interceptions ... can we win with Jameis? Hell yeah. There’s no doubt. As a head coach you have to decide, is there a better option?" He also mentioned how they would be able to start talking to free agents in the next couple of days. Newton, Rivers and Brady all possibilities.
  12. Smith hits 20 off the last over to take Australia to 193-5, decent fight back from the Saffers. Still a big target with 182 being the highest successful score chased at Newlands.
  13. 2 quick wickets put the brakes on, 125-2 after 13.
  14. Australia teeing off against SA in the T20, Warner and Finch hitting 75-0 from the first 6 overs.
  15. Ernest Saunders, one of the Guinness Four who were jailed for attempting to fraudulently inflate the value of Guinness shares to help them in a take over bid for Scottish Brewers. After being sentenced to 5 years, he later appealed on the grounds that he was suffering from pre senile dementia consistent with Alzheimer's. After his sentence was reduced to 2 and a half years, with parole he was out in 10 months. He would then go on to resume a career in business and is the only person known to have made a recovery from the disease.
  16. 2023 Open coming back to Troon, only 7 years after it was last there. It marks the centenary of the first time the Open was held there, and on that basis you would expect 2026 to be a return to Lytham. Turnberry and Muirfield continue to be overlooked.
  17. 9 for Tuesday, wrong wife. I can remember the order of chopped, died, divorced etc, but can never match the right name up with their fate.
  18. Been a shockingly bad run of weather for greenkeepers to try and cope with, we've had 193mm in the last 3 weeks.
  19. Think Andrew Cotter summed it up very well on Twitter, we won comfortably away from home keeping Italy to nil, but it still felt very frustrating. A lot of positives, but plenty of meh too. Our forward play has been poor all through the tourney, we seem to go through endless pick and goes and end up going backwards, but defensively they were excellent on Saturday.
  20. You can exert your authority by getting them to fix question 3, not the first time they have got country and city mixed up. 9 for Monday, aforementioned question 3 wrong.
  21. India manage to avoid an innings defeat, but only just. New Zealand need just 9 to win.
