  1. In fairness, Jane Godley makes a living from shit like this!
  2. I like the idea of the Nation's League but it doesn't really serve a purpose in its current format. Perhaps running it as a 4 yearly cycle for promotion and relegation, doing away with the European Championship qualification stage entirely, and having the "League A" Nations (in a Finals year, IE 2020/24/28) contest a Finals would work better?
  3. Would they not have been better just having an open draw of the Nation's League group winners that failed in Qualifying? Host Nations seeded perhaps? It all seems unnecessarily convoluted imo.
  4. I've been to Guyana back in 2002 when I traveled around Venezuela for 6 weeks. Albeit only for a day trip across the border and along the coast. I had a stopover in Ethiopia en route to and from South Africa in 2001. Only viewed from the plane but was taken aback by the amount of lush, green agriculture in a Country normally associated with famine.
  5. Those blazers won't pay for themselves, you know......
  6. Regardless of whether there's any substance to the HMRC "miscalculation", why is this in the news now? The HMRC removed their claim for penalties/fines from their Bill months ago.
  7. Are you sure he's not just shed his skin? @KnightswoodBear can tell you all about this, he's the resident expert on spiders.....
  8. Currently pitches only start to degrade between late October and mid February, with the latter being them at their worst. By mid to late March the pitches are already starting to recover. Pitches would take far less punishment and degrade far less due to continual growth from March to September during a summer season, therefore requiring far less maintenance during a winter close season. Any groundsman will tell you this. Like I said, there are many reasons to disagree with a summer season but pitch protection isn't one of them.
  9. The pitches would be far less damaged or worn throughout a summer season therefore have far less to recover from.
  10. Are you seriously suggesting that pitches would be worse off for playing a summer season? Currently Clubs generally manage to maintain their pitches through the winter months in spite of playing matches on them. Disagree with moving to a summer season, that's your prerogative , but pitches being worse off wouldn't be a problem.
  11. Is that 9% on the Richter scale? I was rocking somewhat after drinking it, so maybe!
  12. Had this tonight. Shochu, it's a bit like a Japanese version of flavoured cider. This one was peach flavour.....was a bit like peach snaps and lemonade tbh. Grapefruit flavour is better imo.
  13. Fair points but you'd be reluctant to take a young family in bad weather. We'll never know unless we try I guess. I actually think the football on show would be better technically due to the pitches being firmer and in general better. It can't be worse that OF Colt teams in League 2!
  14. A bigger league seeing only 1 H&A fixtures against each Club would help in my opinion. Young kids and families would prefer the better weather too but we'll only find out if we try I guess. I think the crowds (non OF) will drop back down now that the duopoly has reconvened, sadly.
  15. How do Sweden manage it on a regular basis? It obviously can be done as they have far longer and harsher winters than Scotland. Sweden and Norway have a 16 team top division IE - 30 league games. Sometimes less is more. Scottish Clubs (especially the ones playing European competitions) are practically playing non stop! Very commendable Saints. Perhaps moving the league campaign to when the weather is better would help?
  16. Russia switched to an autumn-spring season in 2012-2013. Like Ukraine in that part of the world the league has a 3 month or so winter break. I stand corrected on Russia.
  17. The Scandinavian Countries as well as Russia manage it fit their season in between March and November.......and Sweden and Russia actually take part in those finals on a regular basis. If you read what I said about McDiarmid Park again you'll see that I stated the St Johnstone wouldn't have to close any roads off as they have enough space already. You talk about carnage of closing roads off when the authorities are quite happy to do so for orange fucking walks which bring zero commercial benefits whatsoever. Done properly, like in other Countries, something like this could not only boost the Club's but the local community too.
  18. Whilst I agree it's a terrible term that no genuine football fan should use, the world has moved on from being satisfied with having your whole day revolve around a 90minute match. If you want more people to attend, especially families, you need to offer them more than a greasy pie and a piss weak bovril at exuberant prices on a freezing cold winter afternoon.
  19. It's funny how rugby fans get treated so differently to football fans when it comes to allowing alcohol at their games. I agree that it would be an issue with the police sadly. Clubs currently allow folk on the pitch at HT. Remember the pitches would be a lot firmer because of the weather so wouldn't churn up. There's a shit-ton more the Clubs should be doing. It's actually quite depressing their lack of foresight!
  20. I agree that clubs would find a way of fucking it up but there's plenty they could do. Live music, bars, varied food stalls (not just the big standard pie & bovril), funfair rides, small sided games for the kids on the pitch due to the better weather. I get your point about space but Clubs could tie up withe the local council to have adjacent streets closed off to traffic for the day just like they do for street markets or the like. Clubs like St Johnstone would have no such issues! It would be possible but I share your pessimism in their ability to make a success of it. They'd do it half arsed and fail miserably.
  21. It would make a lot of sense in Scotland. A less saturated period for negotiating a TV deal as well as better weather for fans, players and the pitches. The Club's could easily make more revenue if they put on games, music, food etc as long as they didn't boot the arse out of it with the prices.
  22. Move it to a summer season and the Clubs could set up stalls with food, games etc that the whole family could enjoy like they do here in Japan (you can even enjoy a beer too!). Very family oriented and friendly..... good day out too!
