  1. Nah. GLS came in in the summer of 2016 while Rae was manager. Binned him, and appointed Jack.
  2. The approach that worked so spectacularly with players such as Victor Genev and Darryl Duffy.
  3. The fact is, what will have made Stubbs stand out over McIntyre at the interview stage will have been claims he made about his ability to exploit his contacts and improve the squad. He has spectacularly failed to do that.
  4. Haven't even got it in me to take the piss. That's how shit our squad and manager are. There's a few available managers who will do no better or worse job than McKinnon. Aside from being a bit diddy, this isn't really disastrous news.
  5. Yeah, precisely. If we were chasing him, I assume that means we weren't chasing any other strikers. There's a slim chance he could get bailed out by a couple of deadline day loans. Winger from Celtic, striker from Everton. (I'm not itk, that's just supposing). But really, there is no evidence that we've had any sort of overall transfer strategy at all here.
  6. He needs a separate Twitter account for the Babakoochi Bear stuff, IMO. It's a side project and should be kept as such. He can then have a blue tick Tony Fitzpatrick account for football/St Mirren stuff. Shit, I (partly) work in social media, I might drop him a line and offer to show him how to sort it out.
  7. BT would love that: he talks so slowly they can squeeze in some mid-sentence ad breaks.
  8. Kpekawa arrived as a left back who could possibly play CH. He's just another player being played out of position by Stubbs.
  9. Not sure Thommo's interested in the gig, tbh. He's quite happy with his TV gig.
  10. He really is a number 10 rather than an out-and-out striker. He needs people pulling the defence around in front of him and making runs in behind. People like Morgan and Reilly.
  11. He was - just - my PotS last season. Sickening if this is true. Any of the other bottom half clubs would take him.
  12. Yeah, this season really has to be about just getting over the line, and tightening up at the back should be the first stop. That means staying up this year and using the proceeds to build a better squad next year, and so on. It's what we did the last time we were up - Gus certainly knew it. The progress might have been too slow for some, but we are a bottom half club. That's the reality of it. I don't care if we finish 10th on goal difference ahead of 11th and 12th. I don't care if we win the playoff final on penalties (or away goals ). Even with the McGinn money, we need to spend sustainably. We had the core of a very good team the last time we went down (McLean, McGinn and Mallan in the same line-up), we just fucked it by handing the reins to Tommy Craig. It shows we can get to where we want to be eventually, but there are no shortcuts that also involve spending within our means.
  13. My two-year-old lad is a better liar than Stubbsy "I haven't spoken to him... but I do know he's got one or two things to tie up at Livi. Because I read that in the papers."
  14. I suspect we might get Johnstone in still. Might be a late window effort, though. If JR was still at the club, I'd fancy our chances with Morgan instead, but can't see that happening now. But disappointing that nothing has come of Stubbs' alleged Everton links, though there was probably mileage in the line that we were after Hornby, but he wanted to go elsewhere.
  15. Hodson must be decent, you can't imagine Rangers giving long contracts to shite players.
  16. Yeah, though I'm not sure fullback was top of anyone's priority list. Unless he's being brought in to push Coulson forward*. *This is a move I'm wary of. Football is littered with failed experiments to move attack-minded fullbacks into midfield. We tried it with Stelios recently, and it didn't work. England once played with Ashley Cole and Wayne Bridge in the same team. Didn't work.
  17. That sinking feeling when you wait 31 years to get a decent transfer fee, and have to use it to get shot of your clueless manager.
  18. And they offered him a two-year-deal, did they not? I don't blame him for taking it, but any claims he may have made about wanting game time are looking a bit daft right now. Despite all that, I hope he does well, and starts playing & scoring for them. He's a good guy and has a young kid to provide for.
