  1. Yep that is the last thing any player needs just when they are trying to grab the opportunity to feature at a new club and do well.Really bad luck to get an injury like this straight away and hope he comes back as quickly as is possible.
  2. A total nonsense that we have re-entered.We decided to pull out and that should have been that.
  3. He has a big job on his hands and a few of us think he has maybe gone a bit too far with the clear out as it really looks like a complete overhaul happening -although if players themselves didn’t want to stay then not a lot he can do.Would hate to lose Christie as he is real quality - losing Esplin and the McCanns really leaves only him as the player of proven quality at Lok.
  4. Agree-plus pretty injury prone as well
  5. Yes the existing site value and the new deal must be closely linked on various levels so the fans must be able to see the full breakdown of all of that before making a decision.
  6. Sidey is a great player but can’t see that he is the way forward for Darvel
  7. At least Arthurlie have a Council which is supportive.Lok just seem to be battling with the local authority at every turn with no support on anything
  8. Strange that both have gone so quickly at the same time
  9. Interesting proposal-the club are giving up ownership of their ground to become tenants of the Council under a 75 year lease at the new location.Presumably the club are paying for the development of the new stadium from the proceeds of sale of Dunterlie in some way-can’t imagine that the Council are providing all of this free of charge and Arthurlie sell up Dunterlie then keep all of the sale proceeds?
  10. This is spot on. Rebuilding an entire team having released some of our best players and expecting to compete at the same time is a massive ask in a very tough league.Fingers crossed Maxi can do it.
  11. Did St Cadocs not have a guy closely involved with Celtic who was investing in the club/backing them financially?
  12. Tommy Sloan is an astute judge of players when it comes to letting them go if their best days have come and gone. And he does tend to source quality replacements too.
  13. Delighted for Stevie Aitchison at Cumnock. He was a fantastic servant to Lok and a really nice guy as well.
  14. I think Clydebank will be strong again next season as they have a good squad and platform to build on. Not sure how a financial fair play scenario could operate at our level-I know it was introduced at the top so that clubs didn’t end up overspending and going under.
  15. Much as I would like our south Glasgow neighbours to win the trophy I fear they just won’t have the power or strength to overcome Cumnock as a Premier league side.
  16. So much of what is said is complete hearsay filled in with guesswork when it comes to financials.Unlike the sugar daddy clubs where big money people have arrived at the club (which one can quite easily say would have included Irvine Meadow and Largs in the past)we have always been self sustaining and worked carefully within the financial structure set at the club. There have been many instances where players have been offered bigger money at other clubs in the division and I am not just talking about Darvel but various sides in our league.
  17. He wasn’t paid anything like that-and as I said Pollok work within a very carefully prepared budget.
  18. We are offering no more than a number of other clubs and have no sugar daddy behind us as some do.We pay fairly well but within the operating budget and don’t get drawn into mega money deals.
  19. https://www.pollokfc.com/2023/05/27/club-statement-on-proposed-conference-league/
  20. It would require substantial re-terracing too so we are looking at an astronomical amount to deal with this.
  21. How did you rate the boy Taylor-heard Lok were looking at him but he has gone on up the leagues which is understandable -seemed a very good prospect
  22. Weir was always a better faster more direct forward for us than Calum but I think the big man has improved with Irvine and has an eye for goal so will be interesting to see.
  23. Was there ever a resolution to the Campbeltown Pupils v Thorn unplayed game and the award of points/result?
  24. He is a talented player-we had him three times at Newlandsfield-but I think WOSFL is his level.
