  1. Great result but, no matter how many times I watch it, I still cannot work out what Stokes was trying to do for our third. Don't get me wrong, I'm not complaining, but still completely baffled.
  2. it is indeed 2 hours if you stop at the Bankton Hotel; the Parry Lamp; The New Year Field and whatever the Lime Kiln is called now.
  3. It takes me about 25 mins from Livi South (30 mins on the return as its uphill) but I know the route using the paths. Most of the route planners will presumably take you along the roads?
  4. For midweek; they could probably park in the Lidl car park
  5. No way pedro - dont be such a plonka Bouillabaisse mon ami?
  6. I couldn't care less if the old firm played in the English (and Welsh) Premiership or whether it was some other super league set up. Having them out of the Scottish Premiership would surely make it better for the rest of us though. I appreciate that there are clubs that are richer than others; that will always be the case, but that shouldn't be a reason that the less well off teams couldn't compete. In many ways the Championship is the most exciting league in Scotland. Most teams start the season with a degree of optimism; whether or not that gets crushed three games in is another matter but most teams at least seem to think there is a chance they could win the league if things go in their favour. As we all know there is currently zero chance that will happen in the premiership; the gulf is too wide. Just looking at who Celtic had on the bench on Sunday is a case in point; any side can string together a few results but keeping that going the whole season requires a depth of squad that most teams can only dream of. I don't hate the old firm or bemoan the fact that my side is undoubtedly in the arena of the "haves not"; it is what it is. A Premiership without the old firm would undoubtedly hit TV money but maybe a more competitive league would generate more interest?
  7. Can I start moaning about the pitch or should I wait until after the game? Is Robinson still with your lot?
  8. As far as I recall the Texico cup excluded clubs playing in Europe so, for the Scottish Premiership, that would cover those sides finishing 6th to ninth last year. However, because of the reorganised Betfred cup with group stages, they are the same clubs that wont have the availability to play the likes of Brighton; Crystal Palace; Bournemouth or whoever. Even then, as some else pointed out, the financial gulf is immense.
  9. You're right of course. There would be scant interest from any English Premier side to play in this competition. It was of its time.
  10. Not sure how many on here will remember the old Texico Cup? I used to really enjoy that because it included sides from England; Scotland and Ireland not playing in Europe. It added a refreshing change to the "same-old; same-old". but then again it was a time when, at best, you managed about 20 minutes a week to cover all the English games in a week plus Ian St John's weekly phrase of "what can you say about Liverpool?". Not sure clubs would be able to accommodate it now in the schedule which is a shame.
  11. Pretty sure no-one would try to bully him either; it would be like running into a brick wall.
  12. My eight farthings worth... When I saw that we had Hamilton in goal I thought to myself "anything less than a 3-nil loss is a win". When I saw we also had Longridge at left back/wingback I feared the worse. To be fair I though Longridge had one of his best games for us. The first goal; I've no idea what Fitzwater was doing in such and Advance position leaving Furuhashi in acres of space. Have to say it was well taken but he should never have been given the opportunity; real schoolboy stuff. For the penalty; well I don't think it was but then it was missed so not going to bang on about it. The second goal; I didn't realise there was an offside at the time but shown by Sportscene later, Surely that's the whole point of VAR to pick up suck things? Third goal - well what a c0ck-up. Error upon error upon error. Umpteen opportunities to get rid of the thing properly but didn't. There's an argument that Hamilton was unsighted for the shot but ne only had to move his fee a couple of inches for Christ sake! One thing though; whenever we've taken points off the old firm we've needed to be on top of our game; and sometimes have that wee bit of luck. That wasn't the case yesterday; we didn't play badly per se but we certainly weren't at our best. Defence often seems a bit ragged and the few attacking opportunities were too panicky. The enforced replacement of our preferred goalkeeper was a blow; I've not seen Hamilton play before but am a bit mystified why Ivan didn't have the shout ahead of him. We also missed Montano and his mazy attacking runs. Stephen Kelly generally seemed to play well but was far too slow on the ball; repeatedly allowing himself to get robbed; turning a potential attack into a defensive scramble. One thing though that really brought it home to me though was a quick look at who was on the bench. The net "worth" of Celtic's bench could have easily bought about four fifths of the teams in the Premiership. I appreciate they were wanting to "rest" some player but even so; that was just taking the p155.
  13. Sir Your mother is a hamster and your father smells of elderberries......
  14. That was the Massone era wasn't it? There was something about Dave MacKay complaining about Massone turning off the power to "teach the supporters a lesson" and the fact that the playing staff hadn't been paid for the umpteenth month in a row due to "problems with the bank in Italy" apparently. Massone didn't like being challenged so shipped him out within the week. Cant blame St Johnstone for biting our hand off then. Incidentally want Dave MacKay also our lead goal-scorer at the time?
  15. Do Hearts see us as a threat that need weakening? I remember the Raith situation very well; it was just after we'd been thrashed 4-nil by Raith and we signed Andrews; Tosh and Toastie. Raith did sort of bet their own back, of sorts, with Callum Elliott (I think) although the jury's definitely out on whether that was a good deal. Both Tosh and Andrews managed to appear regularly in the side although Burns appearances were sporadic at best; falling down the pecking order. Airdrieonians was different in as much as all players were apparently made redundant in March 2001 and Fernandez/Broto were effectively free agents. I do remember quite a few examples of the Old Firm weakening rivals; the difference there is, quite often, they'd sign players and not play them; or not play them regularly. Fernandez; Broto and quite a few Dundee players immediately spring to mind.
  16. Previously I quite often seemed to say "X" could be excellent on his day. With Montano, whether he's carrying an injury or not, every match is his day at the moment.
  17. Not sure who they would want from our team TBH. The only one I can think of would possibly be Fitzwater but then he hasn't played much lately (like Halkett). I cant see us being prepared to sell Nouble at this stage but then I'm not sure he'd fit into their system anyway.
  18. Historically we always seem to have a sluggish restart after any break so who knows?
  19. Normally when an opposition player has a bad game its like playing ten men; Efe made it nine.
  20. Wouldn't go that far. A genuinely nice guy and a good defender but prone to moments of absolute madness.
  21. Looks like Efe Ambrose is about to join Morton. Are things a bit dull at Cappielow?
  22. About as much fun as typhid. Actually there is a similarity; Collum irritates the sh#t out of me as well
  23. He's unlikely to force his way back into the first team so it might be possible to negotiate a free transfer in January. Shame really; a really good player but too inconsistent for us.
  24. Yeah, there's maybe been one or 2 from direct free kicks since we got promoted (i remember Keaghan v Motherwell) but can't remember the last time we had a player that you would count on for a goal from a free kick. Even Josh Mullen had a pretty poor return Thinking about it - I suspect Josh's one was in the Betfred and not the league
