  1. how about adding half the "names" Maximo signed that helped push us towards our first administration... namely: Theo Whitmore Guy Ipoua Carlos Garcia (okay; not strictly a signing as he never got international clearance) A mention in any such "waster" list must also go to Cherif Toure Maman who offered so much but deliver so little.
  2. The phrase "dodged a bullet" comes to mind. Least-ways the chance of Livi being the next side to break Covid-19 restrictions reduces markedly.
  3. I'm raging - who'd have possibly thought that playing a third of a game without a recognised striker on the field wouldn't be a success???? Well done diddy alliance bros - looks like its going to be a challenging season/
  4. Not a great game of football by any means but I'd take issue with others that have described Ross County as a dirty team; yes; they could be physical but most of the fouls seemed to be concentrating on breaking up play and trying to stop us playing, if the positions had been reversed I'd expect our boys to do the same, but there wasn't really one bad foul in the entire game. Two things though; the way Ross County almost relinquished control of the midfield; allowing us to pass the ball around, almost at will, for significant periods of the game and how toothless they were up front. This isn't a Ross County I'm used to seeing; particularly one with Stewart in the line-up. All this aside I thought County defended well and troubled us in converting possession into real chances (where have I heard that one before)? for most of the time it was difficult to recognise Donaldson as the young lad who played for us (and managed to get himself sent off for heading the ball in the penalty area - against QoS?) and then he would put in a now fairly rare clumsy tackle and it all comes flooding back. Seems to have grown up a lot on his travels. Finally though - cant the County fans club together and collect enough money to pay for the other half of Kettlewell's haircut?
  5. Get three mates and huddle into the same living room. Spend the rest on beer and pizza - SORTED
  6. Not quite sure how you leapt to that conclusion. Hamilton never was an impact sub; he generally needed to be on from the start to see the best of him. Other than the Sevco game he's not started for us for quite some time and I hope your assumption that he's not going to score goals isnt therefore based on a sole performance as a loan forward against the second most expensive side in the country? Kouider-Aissa has just made the step up from part time football. \Its going to take a bit of time until he's built his fitness to a level to compete with full-time professional. However he also seems like a player that struggles with the role of loan striker. From what I've seen he's more a goal poacher so will need others around him otherwise he's too easily isolated. Tiffoney had an excellent game against Motherwell over a year ago but has rarely had the opportunity to shine since. All in all he seems to have been limited to a handful of fifteen minute appearances. For me that's not enough to make an informed assessment as to whether he's going to score goals or not given a decent run. Poplatnik - your assessment is based on a 45 minute appearance against Hibs, where he won a penalty, and maybe 15 minutes against Sevco? Don't you think you're being a little unreasonable there? He's another one who had been struggling with fitness and adjusting to playing in a new country and yet he's being assessed on how he will be performing for an entire season based on a total of 60 minutes against the top two (in the league) sides in the country? Robinson and Souda are attacking midfield/wingers so I wouldn't be expecting barrel loads of goals from them. Putting all your eggs in one proverbial basket by pinning your hopes on the two new guys coming in isn't going to please you much either. Stokes hasnt played football for some time now, certainly not since last January but we can hope he's managed to keep up some form of physical fitness else its going to be some time before he's going to be performing at any sort of acceptable level. Remember this is a guy who was sacked by one club for repeatedly not turning up for training so the hope that he has been disciplined enough to keep his fitness up whilst not playing is worrying. For Lars Lokotsch; this is a player I know very little about but the more I find out the more hopefully I get. He could be a potential real diamond in the rough. My main worry here is whether he has an impressive burst of speed AKA Dykes or Hardie to really put the fear of god into defenders? Certainly physically he should be a match for most. If any of the above sort out their fitness etc. so that they can form a proper partnership; it could be an interesting season. Remember in previous years we would have usually gone through all this within the Betfred games; giving us the change to sort ouselves out and find what works and what doesn't. This season we havent had that luxury but I still remain quite confident.
  7. I'd actually argue that they've got one of the best managers in the League
  8. I have a strange feeling that relegation this year might not be based on performance alone. The prospect for points deduction etc. this year with the pandemic and financial stresses placed on clubs covering twice weekly testing; hugely inflated travelling costs etc. and the uncertainty of whether the season is going to be allowed to proceed or whether there will be an element of start-stop all gang together to make this one of the riskiest years I can remember. Sorry but my mood is like the weather at the moment.
  9. SPLITTER! Or maybe that football crowds with the new social distancing policy?
  10. Sorry but dropping Bartley for Crawford sounds like the recipe for disaster in my opinion. Crawford does okay as an attacking midfielder but defensively he's wanting. With both the defensive options of Jacobs and Lawson missing from the team at the moment (and Ambrose not exactly covering himself with gl;ory either at the moment) I'd be tempted to suggest Serano in the defensive midfield (enforcer) type role. He's listed as Left back; LWB or defensive midfield and certainly looked up for it on Sunday (provided he can stay on the pitch long enough).
  11. McCrorie did okay but his poor communication with the defence seemed to cause us problems again. We saw it in the first half against Motherwell but he seemed to step our and start yelling at the defence during the second half to ensure they were where he wanted them to be. For some reason yesterday he seemed to revert to his previous form. We all know confidence is a huge element on how a striker performs but I wonder if that's the same for a youthful goalkeeper (after all he is younger than most other goalkeepers we have - with the exception of DJ I suppose). With regard to Devlin he did seem to be significantly impacted by his yellow card; probably aware that one more misdemeanour would lead to him leaving early. For the kind of player Devlin is I don't think we can afford to have anything less than a 100% committed performance. With regard to their second goal; I actually think it was actually quite a good movement by Aberdeen, it wasn't like the ridiculous ones we gave away to Hibs. That being said I also think that it relied heavily on the growing confidence of the Aberdeen forwards; if they hadn't scored their first goal I'm not even sure they would have tried that manoeuvre.
  12. [WARNING - IRONY ALERT] Really cant believe how we failed to get anything from that game. Who'd have believed that playing for 70 minutes without a recognised forward at a ground we've failed to win at for about 15 years wouldn't have worked? Also questionable about the tactic of swapping out a keeper who kept a clean sheet against Sevco; for one who, although competent, hardly seems to talk to his defence. With regard to the substitutions was swapping Fitzwater out for Ambrose really the way to go? Also with Devlin picking ip a yellow in the first half; it was like he was walking a tightrope for the rest of the game; some described him as subdued; I suspect being one tough tackle from receiving his marching orders might have had something to do with that. Maybe he should have been substituted earlier? Bringing Hamilton and Tiffoney on with about quarter of an hour to go was like a last gamble to recover a game that had almost already been lost. If they're going to make the grade then they need to be given the chance and this was precisely the kind of game that they should have been put out perhaps from the start. Hamilton has never been an impact substitution and I suspect the same can be said of Tiffoney. If the management don't have faith in these young guys then surely there's not much point to them being on the books? Hamilton has already spent the best part of the last two seasons out on loan despite having an impressive debut against St Mirren in 2018 I believe. As for Kouider Aissa; he had a frustrating game against Sevco where he barely seemed to speed up beyond what appeared to be a jog. Part of that might have been his lack of fitness having already made the step up from part time to full time professional and not really understanding his place in a team defending against a physical attacking side like the rangers; but again he's just moved up from the lower league; he played well in the pre-season friendlies; when the new additions come in he may find his chances even more limited so surely this his main opportunity to prove himself? The alternative is that once Stokes and Lokotsch are available he wont even find a place on the bench? Ho hum; onwards and upwards.
  13. Everybody taken the grumpy pill today? I'm not a fan of Stokes but the simple truth is we sign who we can afford. Of all the player we've signed over the past couple of years I still have trouble believing Bartley was dumped by Hibs and we picked him up on free.
  14. Feel he still has a couple of years left in him if he's prepared to knuckle down and build up his fitness. Obviously he's played with a couple of our boys previously but he always seems to have had a discipline problem. With the strict social distancing rules introduced as a result of the pandemic; I really worry that he's going to drop us right in it by doing something stupid; maybe even getting Scottish football halted altogether as threatened by the Scottish government. As shown by the examples of Aberdeen and Celtic; the club can only do so much in controlling their players. We seem to have signed one who has previously shown to be uncontrollable. Pretty sure he will score goals; but at what cost?
  15. Notice how the BBC etc. have the headline "Livingston in talks with Stoke" or something similar and yet Holt is implying we've not actually made contact with him yet?
  16. As far as I can see Lars Lokotsch didn't turn professional until he was 20/21 so maybe a bit of an unknown but one of our recruitment aims seems to be targeted at players we feel we can develop and sell on Obviously he showed some potential in his trial? Signing another defender seemed a bit strange particularly as McMillan had done so well and we have ATS as well; also Julien Serrano is apparently contracted to Monaco until 2022 so its only an interim loan. Still I suppose we could argue that we'd released a "forward" and defender and got a forward and defender in return?
  17. When Menga was on his game he was a nightmare to play against. Having said that, with the current squad, its unlikely that he'd even get a regular place on the bench at the moment.
  18. There's only been one PPV game so far this season; Hibs. The Sevco game was on Sky so we obviously weren't allowed to sell any access on PPV and apparently the only people able to watch it, other than Sky customers, were Season ticket holders. It bug me that most of our home games against the old firm are televised on Sky, but pretty much all of the away games aren't, meaning that we have to give money to the the clubs (that don't really need it) if we want to watch the game live but get pretty much zero in return.
  19. Can't help wondering that if he'd played for a more "fashionable" club then the price could have been significantly higher.
  20. I hear there's an ex-financial director from Hamilton who has an excellent tie up with some Nigerian Prince or other? Sorry diddy brothers - but lightening cant strike twice can it?
  21. Or Lyndon Dykes signs for Rangers - the proper ones.
