  1. You feel Scotland is his level? He could easily cut it down south. Playing the the 1st is no real difference than the Conference/bottom half of League Two. Look at Showumni at your Tranmere. Any decent player can play well in a good League One side as Lovell and Arfield have proven. Guys like Charlie Adam can tread water in Dingwall and Paisley before eventually being on the verge of playing at Anfield. Even Kenny Milne found himself in the Championship once he was released by us. I think we have to stop thinking about how a FFC player has performed under Pressley, May and under Hughes in his final season and a half. Making judgement on guys who played alongside stalwarts such as BOB and McBride is unfair. He's had a decent season, one I feel he has probably owed us and I don't mind him leaving is he steps up to the SPL or moves down south. If he signs for another club in the 1st I'd probably feel aggrieved given we stuck by him while he mised chance after chance in the SPL for two seasons.
  2. Having watched a little bit of League Two football while down south, Mark Stewart could have a field day. He'd be up against the Hamiltonesque centre back thugs that seem to be the fashion in that division. If we could provide him with enough service to be the top scorer last year, any decent supply could see him in League One within the year. On an aside, we did really quite well out of the Arfield deal compared to what Killie negotiated with Derby. They paid £350K for him with a a further £100K add on. And that's a Championship side purchasing a full international.
  3. I've resigned myself to the fact he'll miss most of the season injured. Hopefully I'm wrong. What worries me is reports that Utd wanted to keep him - what are we paying him? I'm also not too concerned that a defender is our first signing. I'd be far happier going into the new season knowing our defence has had a settled pre-season together. Most rebuilding jobs start at the back (think Smith's Scotland side as an obvious example). It is a sad day though when I'm sorry to see the back of Mark Stewart.
  4. Here's a scenario that's more likely to happen that Pressley guiding us to the title this season: I win the Euromillions, buy the club and install myself as player manager, firing us to promotion. Is Scobbie really on wages so high we are willing to let him go on a free?
  5. You never know. He seem to have replaced Marceta with Higginbotham.
  6. That's irrelevent. When the knives are out, the knives are out.
  7. I generally find the Batman ones are self contained and relatively free from multiple cross-references to other storylines or characters. The 2nd but even more so the 3rd books relied heavily on your prior knowledge of the backstories of many characters I didn't care for. Bane however is a complete badass and the 1st book is brilliant. I'm picking up The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night again. I only managed 2/3 of the way through last time before I was distracted.
  8. I'm also worried about the Dodds signing. At best he'll be a cheap Bullen, at worst another Craig Ireland. This isn't the 1990's. The gulf between the Premier division and the First in terms of physical demands is minimal if at all. The demands of a 1st division campaign won't be that easier on the failing body of a 35 year old who I thought was struggling back in 2003. If he plays half our games I'll be amazed.
  9. Aren't the OF notorious for asking for loan fees etc. If so, there's no chance we'll be taking any on. I agree the football will be murder but the away days should be good?
  10. That's because you're not really propelling yourself forward on a treadmill.
  11. Christian Bale. It's a deal breaker apparently, no Bale = No Nolan.
  12. I've just finished the 3 part Batman: Knightfall. I picked them up in preparation for the movie next year. If Nolan pulls it off Bane will be elevated in status as he's a tremendous character. The first book is spectacular, the second book rounds off the first half of the story fairly well and creates the need for the third. It's here I lost a bit of interest as it assumes the reader is well versed in the Batman universe with many references to previous storylines and characters Overall it's worth a read - 7/10 stuff but as a stand alone book the first one is a classic.
  13. Cool. I can't access FB at work but I gather it's going to be a Saturday morning?
  14. I'm mostly a one man wolf pack in terms of running. I can push myself harder that way. Having said that, I'm fair enjoying chewing the cud with Nizzy on our weekend runs.
  15. Lose a stone in weight. Break 2 hours in the half marathon in Sept. Get my ballot place for London and train the shit out of it.
  16. Jelly Babies contain an enzyme extracted from umbilical cord blood that has been shown to provide a short term increase in VO2max (maximal oxygen intake).
  17. My team finished 97th out of 641. Got to be pleased with that. We were about 50 mins behind the team that won the relay. I'm well fired up for the Glasgow Half in September now. Congratulations to all the Edinburgh runners though, looks like everyone posted great time in whatever race they took part in
  18. That was some other Falkirk dick. Kiddy's the one who has a raging boner for any product of our youth system.
  19. I finished the 8.1 mile first leg of the relay in 64 mins. Really happy with that. I had been aiming for around 75.
  20. The mural's are superb, well worth the time spent and all the effort. Anyway..... The Metro reports Killie and St Mirren in for Tam Scobbie. We are looking for a fee as he's under contract and Pressley saying something about seeing what Scobbie wants. I'm in two minds about this. We all know his limitations but I feel he may be just the kind of player that we can't afford to lose at this time. He knows the club inside out, looks to be the natural choice as skipper, is already the most experienced player at the club and will leave us with Duffie at the back. Best of luck to him if he does go. I can't see there being a lot of money involved but I'm sure there will be enough offered to force our hand. I'd imagine if clubs are looking to pick off the likes of Scobbie we will probably lose Stewart and Flynn. f**k me, bemoaning the loss of Scobbie and Stewart
  21. I get paid on Friday so expect a wee donation then Saw this today, sad news - Sammy Wanjiru Dead
  22. I received my email but will need to head to the Expo on Friday or Saturday (overtime dependent) to pick up all 4 relay numbers/packs. I did this in 2008 when I went to pick up my and two friends packs (they did not post out the numbers that year to drum up business at the Expo). Carting 3 heavy bags full of marathon guff (and three 4 packs of baking tatties due to the sponsor) was a right pain in the arse. Hopefully the stuff I need to pick up is much lighter this time round.
